bought 2011 nismo on impulse, wants to exchange

So I bought a red 2011 nismo, Does anyone have an idea on how i can get most of my money back to get a 370z white base model automatic?

Jordo! 03-15-2011 12:24 AM

You could see if someone wants to trade with you...

Waiz 03-15-2011 12:35 AM

Ouch, that sucks dude!

You might take a small loss on it but you can certainly sell it and get the one you want.

chops 03-15-2011 12:36 AM

wow, i wish i could afford to buy a car on impulse!

Cyberium 03-15-2011 12:40 AM

I bet you could just exchange it at a dealer for the car you want. A base 370Z AT is way less expensive. It would be a even trade.

Highway 03-15-2011 06:41 AM

Why do you want to trade it in already?

m4a1mustang 03-15-2011 06:43 AM

How long has it been since you bought it? You could possibly work some sort of exchange out with your dealer if you haven't put too many miles on it, otherwise you'll need to find someone to trade with -- or just trade the car in on one you want, but be prepared to take a big depreciation hit of at least a few thousand bucks.

Daveski38 03-15-2011 07:05 AM

I traded in a two month old 2010 Roadster w/1K miles back in Aug. The difference was
6K.

Nissan picked up the difference. (lemon)

gbrettin 03-15-2011 09:42 AM

I am willing to put you out of your misery with an even up trade.
I have: '09, 13k miles, sport package-base, AT, dark silver.

:p

I'm joking.... ... maybe not if you really would.

red6spd 03-15-2011 09:46 AM

Whats the reason for this?????? I

I want a Z 03-15-2011 09:50 AM

you can't - you will take a hit of several $1,000 as your car is now titled and considered used. That's your lesson learned for buying a car on impulse with out any research.

cheshirecat 03-15-2011 09:54 AM

Check the auto purchasing laws in your state. Depending on how long it has been, you may be able to return the car to the dealer, contract or not.

shadoquad 03-15-2011 09:54 AM

If it's only been a day or so, maybe you can return it?

3SeventyZ 03-15-2011 10:00 AM

Cell 03-15-2011 10:13 AM

Usually for people that buy nismos and want to get rid of it right away, is usually because of the spacers. They think the ride is way too rough but when the spacers come off... it is so much better.

toxik 03-15-2011 10:27 AM

You wanted to fly with the eagles but in reality you were just another sparrow.

That is irrelevant to the op's issue.

Xander117 03-15-2011 10:42 AM

Thats some hellacious buyer's remorse.....

spearfish25 03-15-2011 11:01 AM

"I bought a Nismo but want a base model."

Jesus, did you even think about what you were purchasing? This seems ridiculous.

Daveski38 03-15-2011 11:18 AM

FuszNissan,

It was the difference in price after 2 months and 1000 miles

Sorry if I offended you

Andyy 03-15-2011 11:24 AM

I had it for 2 weeks. The dealer was like since it's used the difference will be 5 k. I'm like WTF. The reason for the trade:
Chage color to silver- less of a cop magnet then red
Automatic - I can eat and drive at the same time
Nismo has too much road noise.

Road noise is gonna be the same with all 370s. That sucks though but the saying that you lose 5k as soon as you drive it off the lot is true lol I would just live with your "mistake" and enjoy what you have. But if you have money to throw around, that 5k might not seem so bad unless you can sell it to a private party.

Nikkolai 03-15-2011 11:43 AM

Wow, eat and drive at the same time? Too much road noise?

People seem to buying the wrong car. :ughdance:

Andyy 03-15-2011 11:44 AM

At first I was thinking maybe I'll lose like 2 k, but five is a bit much, most likely I'll end up keeping it and adding progressive springs.

And to the comment about thinking before buying. I fell in love when I saw it on the lot. It was just too sexy I couldnt resist

shadoquad 03-15-2011 11:45 AM

I own a manual and can eat and drive at the same time. Did it on the way to work today, in fact.

And road noise will be an issue in any Z. If it bugs you, get dynamat or something.

Cmike2780 03-15-2011 12:11 PM

I don't mean to be rude or offensive, but those are some lame reasons for trading. I can understand a Nismo---> Touring or Nismo--->G37Coupe. But Nismo--->Base doesn't make sense at all. Except for switching to an AT, you can modify your car for a "softer" ride. Swap the wheels for 18" and get a fatter tire and change the suspension. The Nismo is a cop magnet no matter what color. Don't give the cops a reason and they won't pull you over. Honestly, I've seen more Toyota Camry's than sports cars get pulled over.

If the offer was an even trade for a g37 coupe I would do it. But i didn't want to dump any more money into it.

The dealer is correct - it's a used car
You know what they say about the value of your car as soon as you drive it off the lot. Well, they say it, because it's actually true.

Live and learn, cars are not like other things you buy, you just can't take them back and get purchase price refunded.
Next time do a little bit of research before you spend 40 grand

Jordo! 03-15-2011 02:05 PM

I would try and arrange a private transaction with another person. That's the best way to do this.

This depends on where you are. In my state, you have 72 hours to return a purchase item for a full refund.

Any Z will attract attention if it's doing something illigal, just like any other car. We just have the problem of 'looking' fast. Color is of little concern.

If you're going to be eating and driving, please tell me on which roads so I can avoid them. :ugh2:

Z's by nature will have road noise. This can be lessened by getting different tires, dynamatting, turn up your stereo, roll down the windows... nom nom something. It's meant to let you feel the road through all your senses...

It's meant to be enjoyed. If it's not something you like I have to ask, did you even take it for a test drive??? :icon08:

Yet you're going to anyways no matter what you do. So the best thing you can do is hold what you have which is a little unique, and adjust the ride to suit you. Instead of taking a loss, then changing your mind later on and wanting a PG or Black Z. :icon14:

Really? You can do that with cars here in MD? Does there have to be a good reason for it or can you do it without a reason?

OP your best bet would be to find someone who will do a private trade. I might have done it, but I can't drive manual and my parents would probably kill me. Another option would be to get it painted or wrapped in vinyl for the color issue. The other reasons are kind of stupid IMO. Choose your food wisely and turn up the stereo and your problems are solved
