upon further inspection, I was mistaken. You can only return it if it's a lemon.

there's no buyer's remorse period?

karotZ 03-15-2011 03:40 PM

OP, I know this isn't going to help but I am making my Z as noisy and annoying I can make her to be. :roflpuke2: Oh and I will be vinyl wrapping it OEM red soon...

I would trade my 40th with your red nismo, but mine is still MT6... and haz lotz of modz and iz louder...

Andyy 03-15-2011 03:52 PM

Does it count as a lemon if my back window rattles when I drive?

Lemon Laws vary from state to state, but the vehicle needs to be pretty severely damaged, and they have to have tried to fix it several times, in order for it to qualify in MD.

b1adesofcha0s 03-15-2011 03:58 PM

In MD if you bring it back to get the same problem fixed 3 times and you still have the same problem, then you can return it through the lemon law.

Automatic - I can eat and drive at the same time
Nismo has too much road noise.

this makes you sound like you belong in a camry than a sports car

Wrenise 03-15-2011 04:05 PM

TX is pretty strict about that the lemon stuff. I doubt he would get away with it on a brand new car.

Why would you go for a base? You already wasted your money on the NISMO. Might as well go all out.

I agree with most, the only way to get the maximum back is a private sale. You can also see if the dealer will sell it on consignment. If you trade it, you won't get the taxes back on it and you will have to pay all the taxes and plates all over again.

I impulse buy slot of stuff, but would never on a car. No matter how sexy it is. It's not a cheap date.

spearfish25 03-15-2011 04:05 PM

Eating while driving should be illegal.

Wrenise 03-15-2011 04:07 PM

You can eat and drive as long as it's hands free.

LuckyJinx 03-15-2011 04:08 PM

What would Jesus do? He'd keep the Nismo, then turn water into wine and have a smashing grand time with his new Nismo!

Tell your local legislature.

Meanwhile, my local legislature made it illegal to drive while texting or talking on the phone, but yet they say it's ok if you're on a hands-free, even though the real problem with talking while driving is that you're distracted, not that you have one hand off the wheel.

Astrosfan 03-15-2011 04:12 PM

Eating while driving = its a sports car, you don't eat in it! unless you want stains all in your $35k car. Come on dude. If you bought an automatic, you probably wouldnt have as much fun the time you are not stuffing your face.

Road Noise = dynomatt the trunk, perhaps the whole car. Cost about maybe $500, if that.

Red Exterior = full vinyl wrap it! it will cost you less than trading it in and when you take it off later you got new paint!

I say keep it! you bought it impulsively anyways, cut your losses and enjoy, its a great car! and if you are worried about the harsh ride, im sure someone here will trade you some base wheels and probably throw you some cash too.

Nismo has too much road noise.

So you bought a Nismo knowing that you are the type of guy who wants to eat in his sports car and avoid road noise?! :wtf2:

NecioVato 03-15-2011 05:09 PM

You already took a loss on one car (the roadster), are you sure you want to take ANOTHER loss on this car? I mean, if the 1st time you returned it...so be it, but to do it a 2nd time....why??

I see you live in Dallas (me too); if I had the money I would be curious what you would be selling it for, etc. Hmm...have you thought about having someone take over payments for you with some cash on the side to not make the loss TOO bad?

zmyride 03-15-2011 05:52 PM

Liar Liar.

Nobody buys a $40K car on impulse, unless you have too much cash laying around under your mattress. But if you have too much cash, why would you care about a $5K loss for a trade in?

/\ I agree. Either the OP is pulling our leg, or he is mentally challenged and shouldn't be allowed to make large purchases w/o a co-signer.

BrianMSmith 03-15-2011 05:59 PM

Maybe it's cheaper to "fix" the car instead of trading, maybe try different springs and dampers? Isn't most else "Nismo" just lipstick and hairspray?

lots of people buy cars on impulse. Most dealer strategies are based around getting people to buy on impulse.

Dynamat and a vinyl wrap will solve 2 of those problems for under 2k id say stick with it. Its alot better then taking a 5k loss

I'm just gonna put this here again. Troll...

for a $14K toyota corolla, YES. not a $40k bonafide sports car with a 2-seater.

nobodys gonna walk into a Lamborghini dealership and buy a half a million$ lambo on impulse. If you do, why would you care if you lose ten of thousands of dollars for a tradein?

People do worse things with their money than impulse buying a $40k sports car. Like buying a house worth $100k's that they know they can't afford and there by crashing the global economy. :icon17:

Putting a auto tranny in a 370z Nismo might just be the worst idea I think I have ever heard.

tjlazer 03-15-2011 10:53 PM

Get some springs for it to soften up the harsh ride and get some Dynomat.

I'd be willing to be the majority of Z sales are impulse purchases. People are actually less likely to impulse buy a corolla, because there is not an emotional connection, it is a logical purchase.

mick 03-15-2011 11:40 PM

i agree with red zed.
this is kinda like the story of a guy here who had bought a manual trans 370z without knowing how to drive it and later wanted to trade the car for an auto 370z. that was an impulse buy too :)

Maybe he knew, but not proficient and almost crashed.

But either case, y'all saved me a trip to the dealership. it's staying.

HA got that beat for idiocy, here in wisconsin you can't text while driving but you CAN read text's and browse the internet on your phone.

Edit: also i find that the little useless pocket in the dash is great for holding a burrito or two.

Not sure how the bashing of a fellow forum member helps with the issue presented in the thread.

Andy, as many members suggested, you could try to do a private trade to avoid further money loss - this may take a while; the tricky part will be to get the trade where both parties are satisfied with things like mileage, upkeep... Another option you might find worthy is to keep the car and slightly modify it to fit your needs.
** Road noise: easy/cheap fix is to dynamat the trunk & door maybe floor if you feel like. Road Noise Thread
** rough ride: Get some "value" springs that will give the car a smoother ride. Thread 1 Thread 2
** Color issue: the car will get noticed on the road no matter what color it is :tiphat:...get a radar detector maybe??

I don't know about an AT on Nismo, but a Dual clutch type transmission similar to the GT-R might be interesting to see.

He's been wanting a Z for a long time. He bought it but regretted he bought the wrong model/type. He didn't regret he bought the wrong car. He knew what he wanted, he just didn't know the difference between model types. I regretted I didn't upgrade to the Touring. That doesn't mean i bought the car in impulse. its two difeerent things.

Uh, it's called poor financial planning, not buying on impulse. Nobodys gonna wake up and decide i'm going to buy a house today and actually purchase it in the same day. it takes months to buy a house and you have to be financially qualified. its not impulse buying. you have months to think about it.
