25 here, and I can't wait for 35. What is it with people wanting to be LESS accomplished?

I've got a few friends like this, and I wouldn't trade them for the world. I'd also never betray their trust intentionally.

It's incredible to have people who will be there for you like that, and if you open yourself up to no one, you will never have that, or at least you'll take it for granted.

True, you're less likely to be hurt or betrayed if you keep everyone at a distance. But I wouldn't want to go through life like that. It's your philosophy, and if it suits you, then I'm happy for you. But it won't suit everyone. I wouldn't want to live my life like that. Not saying my way is better, just different.

I mean fully trust. I trust people to different degrees.

I have some very good, very close friends, for example, but I wouldn't trust ANY of them to drive my car. However, I have no problem handing them a firearm at the range. I know you may think that is backwards, but I trust that they are not prone to shooting me as much as they are prone to giving the car a little gas in a corner when noone is around if I let them borrow it. They are all good people, but sometimes temptation and all that...

Without trust, you will limited in life. Mountain climbing, camping, hunting are safer with a buddy. Even hold the ladder requires trust.

Keeping your finances separate, as above, is excellent advise.

Did the love thing when I was younger and dumber, back in highschool and early on in college. Got it out of my system and ready to get down to the business of being successful.

Im 31...
and I was doing pretty good at 22, I was actually making about 45k a year... and cost of living was low where I was..

I am more accomplished NOW in the sense that Im doing something I am proud of, and enjoy. oh, and I have a Nismo lol:happydance:

:edit: it's not about being less accomplished, its more about being less responsible... maybe... I had less worries back then..

Red370 03-03-2011 02:46 PM

is it too soon and would it be insensitive to ask for a date? just curious.

SophiaZ 03-03-2011 04:25 PM

^^ haha. I hear that quite abit... Ive already started the dating scene the nite my husband told me all that crap. Im not getting any younger but the trust issue needs to diminish to be fully happy again.... but the happiness re-appears after starting up the Z ;)

I understand the less worries part. Sortof. However, when I was 22 I was broke, in college, and worried about how I was going to make rent. So we were in 2 different places.

When I am 31, I hope to have purchased or built a home, and found a place I want to settle down, and be about my business. Right now I live comfortably and want for nothing, but I don't have a home. I live in an appartment in a town I hate, but ironically work at a place I totally love and have an awesome boss. That really frustrates me to no end. I want a good environment AND a good work place.

That just about matches my life atm...
tho, where I work is kinda iffy..
I want a house, but I don't want a house in this town... Minot would actually be alright if it wasn't for the -60 degree winters

Funny thing is I think you are right where you need to be in life - I am a firm believer in loving what you do and who you work with because to me (and maybe this isn't true about everyone) you spend half your life at work. Just think, you sleep for 8 hours and that leaves 8 for work and 8 for play.

Some day all of it will come together for you and you'll be happy at work and have a great place to come home to. Oh, and you left out the part where you enjoy driving your Z from work to your apartment (that's part of the 8 for play). :)

Eh, I do things a bit different. I work weekends, 12 hour shifts. I pump iron and come home tired as hell and sleep 7 hours and do it all again. Off monday-thursday some weeks, monday-wed. other weeks.

I drive my G20 as a daily. I don't feel comfortable parking my Z at work, even though its in a good part of town and has security. Each carbon-fiber fender is over 2 grand after paint, not counting install. Not something I want dinged. I'm either in the car, or looking at it, if it's out of storage, lol.

Pictures of the Z? :)

NP, thanks. Thought the "Drives: G20/ '11 Z06" cleared it up. Then again, I don't look at that much, either, lol
