Trips 08-21-2010 01:19 AM

Daily Driver only 7 miles each way.

Jamaica 08-21-2010 01:22 AM

I will get all-season tires for winter though.

And I wait until the roads are plowed when it snows.

Even with plowed streets, go with straight up winter tires for winter; don't compromise on that stuff.

Red__Zed 08-22-2010 06:45 PM

I use mine as a "daily", but jog/bike most days.

My z will be my DD. Its awesome gas mileage compared to my cts-v at 9MPG lol.

wilsonp 08-22-2010 07:40 PM

I live in southernmost Virgnia; we don't get snow often enough for winter tires. Mostly I change due to the cold temperatures.

jaedub 09-02-2010 05:39 PM

i try not to drive my z everyday. However, i do take it out on weekends

huff442 09-02-2010 06:26 PM

I travel a lot, so at best case, i only get to drive mine 3 days a week. So, YES, mine is a daily driver, if i'm in this state!

tdehtorp 09-09-2010 11:59 PM

Mine is also a DD I get anywhere from 19-21 mpg very comfortable and for road noise.. who cares either turn the radio up or learn to find it soothing you get the car for a reason

stacy001 09-10-2010 12:49 AM

Drive the Z on weekends. Rest of the time it my truck or the wifes 300

OMGWTFBBQ 09-10-2010 01:08 AM

I use the Z as a daily driver too. I have no problems with road noise. Even with the car half gutted and no headunit/speakers to help drown out the noise. Think of the engine/exhaust/road noise as a surround sound symphony to your ears.

ClemsonWill 09-10-2010 08:10 AM

My Z is a garage queen. I drive her a couple of times a week. I would probably daily drive her if the roads and traffic were not so bad here. I daily drove my S2000 for a couple of years and I spent too much time repairing chips, cleaning, and wearing out the clutch in rush hour traffic. Now I just daily drive my automatic Civic Value Package to work. It's nothing special so I don't worry about the little stuff.

mick 09-10-2010 09:34 AM

i got a 2010 vw for daily driving and made my z a garage queen.
so i told my insurance company that i would drive the vw daily and the z only once in a while (max 2k miles a year).

the annual insurance premium for the z is still $200 more than the vw

HonestlyLying 03-17-2011 04:18 PM

So being new to this forum I was curious how many people used their z for a dd, and after reading through this and a few other threads I have to admit I am quite surprised so many people do daily drive the z. I wonder if I would..

kenchan 03-17-2011 04:39 PM

not sure if i posted by my Z is my weekend car.

i take my G to work on nice days, Fit to work on crappy days and all of winter and to all the stores and restaurants, etc.

JvKintheUSA 03-19-2011 08:31 AM

Just bought a 2011 Toyota Yaris as my daily driver.

rebe945 03-19-2011 08:43 AM

Z not my DD

I like it that way. Its near perfect. I pick and choose when to take her out. I drove it for the first time this year yesterday and it was really fun. Slow cruising, got the temp up to 210. Hit the highway. Felt great. Then washed it , detailed it with Mcguires Ultimate Detailer( as i always do when after i run it ) and put a new cover back on. Also, the talk of road noise was non existent. Never noticed anything when I thought of the conversations about the subject. Just a nice sound from the engines when hitting it a bit.:driving:

houkouonchi 03-19-2011 10:07 AM

My 370z is my DD and my dad has a 350Z with over 120k miles on it (also his DD).

I have a decently far commute (40 miles one way so 80 miles/day 4 days a week). To be honest driving the 370z is part of what makes my commute more bearable! There is no way I would spend a bunch of time driving some other car when the 370z is great fun and a great car to drive. Certainly not worth the extra 10 MPG I might get. I generally average around 25-27 mpg going into work and 23-25 MPG going back home.

WGJB 03-19-2011 03:49 PM

Mine is a DD, as well. Including winters. I live in the metro Detroit area and this year was a strong winter. I had no problems with a Blizzak wheel and tire combo from Tire Rack. I get about 21.5 mpg in a 21 mile one-way-city commute. I picked up the car in Maryland and got 27.0 mpg on the trip home. During the break-in period, really babying it, I was getting 24.0 mpg in a 13 mile one-way-city commute. Impressive.

tonythetiger 03-19-2011 03:55 PM

dd rite here!! But man gas is a $&@#%, wish there was less road noise and would love to get better speakers. However flooring it on the highway puts a smile on my face every time!!

NewYorkJon34 03-19-2011 04:22 PM

mine is a DD as well, I love driving it but feel bad racking up the miles. Id like to get a 2006-2007 STI as a second car.

when i went for a test drive the other day, man there was just something about hearing that noise...something satisfying and soothing, i found it highly satisfying because your driving the car, and your hearing the car react.. i loved it:tiphat:

Dreezy562 03-19-2011 05:53 PM

Yes

sucasa 03-19-2011 06:07 PM

I have 2009 Corolla for DD, also have a new Matrix for hauling stuff. Z is driven about 3x a week.. never in snow or bad weather.

Urbanracer 03-19-2011 07:32 PM

My Z is only driven on weekends and after work, occationally I'll take it to the office. It goes into hibernation for the winters so it never sees snow. I have a maxima and a Honda CBR that I use as daily drivers.

LunaZ 03-19-2011 08:02 PM

Daily driver.
Except for the winter hibernation period.
Also, except for going to the gym in the morning.
And, except for when I need to haul crap for the house.
Except for days I feel like driving a convertible.
Except for when I go bar-hopping in the city.
I'll probably make an exception on rainy days.
Another exception is when I have more than one other person with me, but I've found that's subject to exception when the two girls are hot.

NewYorkJon34 03-19-2011 08:51 PM

That's alot of exceptions, lol the 2 girl thing is def a negitive of having a 2 seater. I guess the hotter one gets to sit up front, and the busted one can hold on to the rear bar in the hatch, lol

DrEvil 03-19-2011 09:26 PM

Every single day that I can, except in snow.I casn't wait to get into it and try to find the longest way to get there.:stirthepot:

brian0128 03-20-2011 12:06 PM

The Z is my new daily driver rain or shine.

Ditto. I live in SoCal, so I don't need a car for "bad weather". I'm just really careful when it rains, which isn't often.

I'm a single guy and have no need for a lot of room, so I can enjoy my 370 every day.

pL4tiNumfi5t 03-20-2011 04:20 PM

My Z is my daily driver, but been trying to avoid rain for now. Getting 22-23mpg mix of city/hwy. A Toyota Tacoma is now my secondary.

Jessobear 03-21-2011 07:15 AM

Mine is a weekend/errand car. I have a company car for work that the company gave me, along with a gas card, so it isn't really a question what I'm going to use during the week. Plus, the work car has all the literature I need for sales calls in it.

I find the earlier posts in this thread about driving in DC funny. I live in DC so naturally that's where I do most of my driving. There are places I know I wouldn't take it, but most places are fine. Hell, I took the thing to Chipotle and parallel parked it yesterday. Just choose your parking spots wisely.

POLL: Daily Driver or Weekend Car

I was just wondering what the community used their Z's for.

moto_italia 02-13-2012 03:37 PM

Daily driver - about a 30 mile round trip commute to work.

Masa 02-13-2012 03:41 PM

Daily driver three out of four seasons unless it is raining. Sits in the winter for the most part but will take it out for an hour drive every two weeks if weather is permitting.

370ZilverZ 02-13-2012 03:41 PM

If I have a lot of mods to do, it's garaged or a weekend car. It's not my only vehicle, so I would say it's a fair weather daily driver. Basically a weekend car, but being retired, my weekends are long.

Face 02-13-2012 03:48 PM

Daily driver.

Living in western WA, there are only about 3 days a year that I would consider being not drivable in this car, but I could get a set of snow tires/wheels if I really needed to.
