You can't blame the insurance companies for not wanting to pay claims to reckless drivers.
This article is pretty interesting. If you think you are going to win a case to keep law enforcement or your insurance company out of your black box, you might be in for a fight. http://www.jlolaw.com/Articles/AutoD...ticModules.pdf And good luck trying to disable it. It's likely part of the computer that deploys your airbags.
