I'm usually a defensive driver.
I watch the behavior of the drivers around me.
If I see someone driving aggressively, I keep out of their way, or else they'll jump lanes so fast, they'll barely clear the car behind them as they switch lanes. I hate people who do this.
If you saw that driver coming, you should make any attempt to avoid them at least.

steveg78 02-08-2011 07:49 PM

Sorry to hear but I must say you were kinda asking for it. I can't think of one good reason to be driving with VDC off in the rain. Good luck with the repairs.

Well all you got to do is search VDC OFF and you will find a TON of accidents.

Glad you are OK.

frost 02-08-2011 07:57 PM

Turned your VDC off when the roads were wet? Seems reasonable.

Did you learn anything from this?

SPOHN 02-08-2011 09:17 PM

Cut him some slack guys.

f18mech 02-08-2011 09:22 PM

Glad your ok..... Z can be repaired/fixed.

Hugoneus 02-08-2011 10:32 PM

First off, good thing you are OK.

But you turn the VDC off during a rainy day on city streets? Why exactly? What were you hoping to accomplish? I am sorry, but you asked for this.

Maybe... but driving the Z w/o VDC is also a recipe for disaster as the OP found out. As a driver, you rely on your own skills and the car's handling to control what you can, to include avoiding the idiots this govt allows to drive.

Cmike2780 02-08-2011 10:51 PM

$8,700 seems low for that much damage. More like $10k to get it back close to factory spec. That rear quarter panel is one of the worst spots to get hit. Glad to hear your Ok & at least insurance will cover it.

Dreezy562 02-08-2011 10:53 PM

if you don't know how fast you were going its a safe bet that you were probably speeding. Lol vdc off in the rain. Slap yourself.

But ya at least your alive.

Had you had your VDC on and are over 30, your car would still look like this:

Sorry there is no excuse for turning VDC off in the rain. I hope you learned from this. Good luck to your car. Hope it get fixed right.

Cmike2780 02-08-2011 11:41 PM

I think we've been a little harsh on this guy. VCD off isn't necessarily to blame. It's not like he was doing power laps. Lesson learned and it could have been far worst.

jaedub 02-09-2011 12:03 AM

damn bro, sorry this happened to you. But its just a car, you can always fix it up and ride like if it was new again. GL with the repairs and thank god you're okay

chuckd05 02-09-2011 01:25 AM

*******newsflash***** you can still crash your Z with the VDC engaged...

younter 02-09-2011 01:33 AM

I'm so sick of all the "VDC" bs. I ran one of my fastest laps IN THE RAIN at Auto Club Speedway with... that's right... the dreaded driver nanny VDC off.

Shocking that I'm still in one piece I'm sure.

Stop blaming VDC for every accident. Sh!t happens plain and simple.
