Stop blaming VDC for every accident. Sh!t happens plain and simple.

well said Killer. I agree with you. There was a time when cars did not have VDC at all. OMG.. People just need to learn to drive and stop havuing the car do it for them.

That said I love my inteligen cruse control and lane departure feture in the FX50. I just set it fall asleep and arrive well rested.

Sorry there is no excuse for turning VDC off in the rain. I hope you learned from this. Good luck to your car. Hope it get fixed right.

zmyride i think he gets the point man, no need to post a picture and act like a sh*thead. Stop trying to act like a know it all, give the kid a break. If the kid was like 18 and did this then maybe age might have been a bigger factor, but to the difference between 27 and 30 isnt much. A simple good luck on the repairs was all that was needed.

toxik 02-09-2011 09:07 AM

i don't have a VDC button, should I go to the dealership?

shumby 02-09-2011 09:11 AM

^^^ dear god yes cuz you should already be dead.

That sucks man, but you definitely chose a bad time to turn VDC off. At least your OK. And if it makes you feel any better you're not the first and certianly not the last. Show us pics when all the repairs are done.

I remember one night many years ago. I met this hot babe at a bar and one thing lead to another and she was back at my place. In the heat of the moment I turned VDC off and all I could think about was how dangerous it was but also the thrill of having the full feeling with VDC off was so much better than with it on. The only sucky part was the anxiety afterwards until I got a clean bill of health from the Doc.

well there you have it gents, women are no longer after your money and soul.... they just want your VDC off.

SoCal 370Z 02-09-2011 10:10 AM

I believe that every Z should not have VDC. What happened to learning how to properly drive an automobile? We have become too reliant on technology to do the driving for us.!

I always turn VDC off. Why? Because I know how to drive a rwd, fwd, awd, 4x4Hi, 4x4Lo and my JD lawnmower. VDC wasn't around back in the day and guess what? Everyone drove around going about their business and there were accidents. For all you pro VDC on folks I have a revelation for you - there will always be accidents with or without VDC on or off. Now get over it and face the reality that VDC on is not a guaranteed accident prevention device that will save your a$$ no matter what.

dad 02-09-2011 11:47 AM

After thinking about your wreck: VDC "would not" have prevented your wreck. The tires have, to have, traction for VDC to be effective!
"He did a 360 spin, there is no traction", even if VDC had been on, it wouldn't have helped!
"I would like to apologize for my previous snap post"!

sorry my dry humor offended you. no bad intention from me. I'm not teaching him how to drive. I'm not sure I can drive better than him.

To the OP, sorry that happened. Good luck and hope you get your car back soon.

Yeah the negative comments are uncalled for and juvenile at best.

Hey OP, My VDC is off 90% all the time  No one was hurt! Good luck with the repairs and enjoy the car when you get it back!!!!!! Cheers.

Ha! Funny thing is, this dim sum place near me has that as a special for lunch on Sunday's.

Airbags come out? and I think you guys should cut him a break he said he made a mistake turning the VDC off. Regardless, I never drive with it on. There's been too many times when I tried to pull out quickly and it slows the car, putting you in even more danger because your car isn't accelerating like it should be.

+1 sometimes the vdc bogs the car for a split second when you smash the pedal.

Don't think what you guys described is VDC fault. It sounds like the car is trying to adjust from being driven passive to aggressive.

spryor 02-10-2011 09:16 AM

eg7737,

Man, I really feel for you, such a beautiful car! :(

I am glad that you are alright.

Yeah its making the adjustment, but sometimes its overly intrusive.

Xander117 03-17-2011 12:27 PM

Congrats man, glad to see you got it back and are happy with the work. Now get back out there and enjoy it :driving:

98intrigue 03-17-2011 12:32 PM

Man, that wait would have killed me. Now drive the hell out of it!

+1...I Have VDC off majority of the time! (just like i did with my g35c 6mt, off 99% of the time)
If you can't handle the car then keep it on! Its as easy as that.

Congrats on getting the car back! :excited:

This is true, but you have to have experience with the car. The car was still pretty new to him so driving with VDC off, in the rain, at night probably wasn't the brightest move and ultimately let to him spinning out of control which caused the collision. And yes, I also race in the race with VDC off and I'm often one of the fastest under those conditions.

I only have 1 rule. Drive within your limits.
