Instead of a power gain how about making the Z a lighter car? That way the Z will be faster and have better fuel economy.

Looks like Some people are expecting miracles from DI. The VQ37 already has a specific output that can compete with the best NA engines out there, including DI engines. 89.7 hp/l for the regular Z and 94.6 for the Nismo. Only Porsche (911) and Ferrari engines have a higher specific output, they also rev a lot higher then our VQ. Even the Cayman S "only" makes 94.1 hp/l with DI

![]() I remember when the E46 M3 came out and everyone was talking about how it was one of only (insert small number here) production cars in the world producing over 100hp/L. Although the increase in horsepower would not affect performance by much in real world settings, it is still important in this big pissing contest. I see so many guys here in So Cal with exotics pushing out 400-600 horsepower that can't drive the car at all, but they still want to say they have that much power. From a marketing standpoint, the HP numbers, 0-60 time, etc. definitely provide talking points and do generate interest. They make for magazine coverage and get people on the lots. |

Mazda RX8=178HP per litre.....great handling car, but goes to show how numbers on paper can be deceiving.

That's what I'm saying...it doesn't always translate to the real world. Also, having owned an RX-8 I wasn't really disappointed. It's an impressive engine that's desperately needs FI. That much power from a rotary with that much displacement is still relevant considering a 13B N/A with roughly the same displacement were making around 115hp/liter a decade before.

I think regardless it being a nismo or base the power output will be pretty close like they are now. Nothing against nismos, but nismos is not much of an upgrade from a sport.

I agree, if Nissan goes to DI it will mainly be for fuel efficiency.

Oh no, can we not rehash the same topic again guys?
No offense to OP but I won't believe anything until I see it announced from Nissan or from someone who attends a focus group. Most of the people at Car Shows booths represent the booth vendor and not the manufacturer themselves, I know this from personal experience from my time at Nissan. |

talk about insecure at its best... lol at all the people that are butt hurt about this topic. after being on the market for 3 years, a power bump and few other new features seem norm in today's auto industry.
