You should have your knees bent to operate the pedals, so when you rest your left leg, it falls naturally on the DP.

Someone on this board posted that when your seat position properly adjusted, if you extend your arms out in front, your wrists should lay on top of the steering wheel. I was a tad too far; after adjusting it this way, once I got used to it, it works better (if you heel-n-toe as well).
