Interesting, as there is a current recall on Nissan Titan trucks regrading the IPDM:

lol... i was just about to post this too! :icon18:

IPDM appears very easy to replace. just unclip it (or bolt) undo the harness, plug new one in, clip unit it back on. done.

so from the reading the titan issues, it appears (dont quote me as i dont know the details of the titan recall or the issues with our cars) some kind of vapor exists and causes the contacts in the relays inside to corrode.

so i suppose if you do get stuck and no help around, try unplugging this unit from the car, shake the hell out of it (maybe even kick it around gently on the pavemet to induce vibration to loosen the corrosion), and plug it back in. :icon17: jokes aside it might get you going for that one time you need the engine to start. atleast worth a try.

kinda like a defibrillator tactic. :D

From the Titan recall it appears they are replacing the ECU relay in the IPDM and not the whole unit which is funny since Nissan released a TSB stating never remove any relays and that none are interchangeable. Also seems like it is only for 2006 and earlier, so may not be related?

Some also recommend swapping the ECU relay with the fog light relay (which I guess we don't have?) to start the car in an emergency.

:ugh2:
This is suppose to be the best dearler in our area.
Hopefully they have good techs. unlike my other failed experience at a certain dealer.:shakes head::mad:

Got a voice message saying that it's on backorder and they don't know when they'll receive it.
I'm getting annoyed now this is day 2 without a car.

yah, i would DEFINITELY unplug that IPDM, shake it real good, and plug it back in. lol :icon17:

let's hope they do a recall.

Anyone hoping for a recall on the IPDM should first document their case with
Vehicle Owners | Safercar -- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

Next contact Nissan USA and tell them this problem is not a rare one off issue, rather, more and more drivers are experiencing it, and point them to the threads on this forum and documented complaints on the ODI-NHTSA website.

Then, Nissan may issue a service bulletin to upgrade the failing component or issue recall for known defect upon further investigation.

Hopefully Nissan steps up and acts proactively

And I got it early summer/late spring time.
I don't know what that has to do with my ipdm.
Also, called me second time couple minutes ago asking me if I have remote starter...?

Well I don't think they can legally deny you any coverage based on your mods. They have no affiliation with the problem AT ALL. That's like breaking your leg and having your insurance deny you and blaming it on your smoking habit :rofl2:

kenchan 01-31-2011 02:44 PM

wow.... keep us posted. did you mention about the IPDM issue?

Yes, they were the one's who told me that was the problem in the first place.
Even though I researched on the forums and told them it was the steering wheel lock, which in my opinion is the problem not the ipdm.
:shakes head:
It's been a week without my Z...
