yah, the tune ECM and immobilizer are two different circuits, i think.

would turning the steering wheel a little bit to unlock and then re-introduce the key help at all? you'd need another person to hand you the key after you sit down and turn the steering.

not sure. i cant think of any other way but to call 911 for not starting car. :D

Sounds very much like the same thing.

I had a similar problem. Battery would not hold a charge, so occasionally it would not start after short trips.
Happened when car was less than a yr. old.
Dealer replaced battery, nc..

Thanks guys, thought it was my fault!
I've always babied my Z.

They think it's the fuse box.
o_____O;;
Part should be here tomorrow or thursday so I should expect my car then.
I hope they are right.
And what could've caused this?!

I think they are clutching at straws. Hopefully they called Nissan before making this determination.

W/e I went back to the dealer yesterday once I read what you guys said about the steering wheel lock the manager probably thought I was crazy for saying it's that.
He didn't even write down a single thing I said. rofl...
O well it's the dealer's money not mine!

Some Service Managers' are like that. The issue is that they are now extending the time you are without your 370Z; add to that their being unable you give you rental. It's a lose/lose until you get you 370Z back and fixed properly.

Alright guys so they said that there's no signal from the IPDM to the steering lock relay.
So it's a bad IPDM.
What's that?
o___O;;

SoCal 370Z 01-25-2011 03:43 PM

IPDM = Intelligent Power Distribution Module

Interesting, as there is a current recall on Nissan Titan trucks regarding the IPDM: IPDM recall is official. recall PC068

There have been some other reported failures of the IPDM but they were fairly rare. I'm always suspicious when the dealer says it is a power module, very easy to accidentally short things when you're in there probing.
