Does anyone drive their 370z in the snow?

I might have to move back to MN later this year and I'm curious if anyone up in MN (or anywhere there is snow during the winter months) actually drives

Default Does anyone drive their 370z in the snow?

I might have to move back to MN later this year and I'm curious if anyone up in MN (or anywhere there is snow during the winter months) actually drives them through the winter.

If so, how does it hold up? I figure if a celica or miata can do it teh 370z would as well.

What would anyone recommend I do if I HAD to drive it in the winter? Wash it a lot to keep the salt away? Different tires?

** EDIT **

Ok, after digging some more in here I've found some GREAT threads! Wish I could delete this one. Looks like people recommend getting Bridgestone Blizzack LM-25, sound right? And it's fine during the winter but some would vote for storing it if I could (which I can't, only car).

Since I can't delete this thread, let me just take the moment to thank EVERYONE that participates on this thread. There are a lot of people like me who might not post much but still get a ton of information from the thread and everyone's great ideas and input! THANKS!!

Kudos to you for searching for your answer. The new Blizzaks are the LM-60s. Given the performance 'hit' you take with snow tires even with the LMs being 'performance', I'd suggest finding some WS60s if they'll fit your rims and you have moderate to high snow amounts. They're better than the LMs particularly on ice but may wear faster on dry pavement.

If you want to close the thread, you can close or delete it under 'thread tools'.

I have the Dunlop Graspic DS-3 Ice Tires and they are great on cold days with very little snow, but ice on the roads... I love'em!

Hi there Jay.
Sitting here in Minnesota with a total of 5 feet of snow accumulation to date. About 4 feet of snow still on the ground.
Hopefully I'll have my 370Z by April, here in the tundra of Minnesota. I've yet to see a Z during the winter around these parts.
I've driven in the snow since day one of getting my driver's license, so I've got a bit of experience driving in the snow and how to handle certain conditions.

We don't normally see a lot of snow where I live, but since the Z is my daily driver, I put Blizzak LM-60's on back in December and couldn't be more pleased.

I've driven it in snow a couple of times since then. The first time was a couple of inches of snow on untreated, unplowed interstate. Driving sensibly, I had no problems.

Prior to the Z, I've always had RWD sports cars with all-season tires and the Z with the Blizzaks is by far the best traction and handling I've ever had on snow.

I normally don't see a lot of snow in NJ... but have seen a fair amount last year and and about 26" so far this year. I was also in more snow in OH and driving to Chicago end of December. I originally got the Blizzak LM-60's because I was moving to Alaska. I was bummed when I decided against moving, that I spent $1,000 on these tires... but have already had a few storms. Also, I do a lot of hiking in the winter and find myself in the mountains and will also be driving up to Mt. Washington, NH to climb up that mountain in the next 1-3 weeks.

Anyway... back on track... I was bummed at first... because I could SORTA get by in NJ without them... but after using them... I LOVE THEM. When it snows now, I find reasons to go out... they are a BLAST. I know some say "don't drive this car in the snow or even rain"... but listen... it's a CAR.. this is not a collectors item... I hope you people buy it to drive it and enjoy it. I want to drive it during all 4 seasons... and winter is my favorite season, so definitely during winter. The Blizzaks allow me to do that. People that garage their Z in the winter are missing out on a whole other side of the Z. But as they say... "to each their own".

Have fun!
