CAI on 2013

This is an old and ongoing question with many opinions.. I seem to see no real gains for this, but how about sound? To be specific, I have Invidia Gemini

Your best bet would be to keep the drop-ins and get a set of silicone MAF hoses.

There wont be any difference in exhaust noise but you can hear the intake of the air when you step hard on the gas ONLY if you have short tube CAI. With long tube CAI, that has the filter in front of the radiator, it's difficult to hear because intake of the airflow is further away from the cabin.

As for gains, you wont feel any noticeable gain because its very minimal. I suggest getting long tube CAI.

I've installed the R2C short CAI and there is no noticeable exhaust sound differences. They do seem to be better (for performance) at the upper end of the RPM band. I could feel the car running out of steam (@ 110 on the track) and since I installed them, the running out feeling was gone. See my mods in my signature below.

Just my $.02...

This.... if your exhaust mod came first? That's where the bulk of your power came from.u gotta pick which mod will create the most power, so in your case, I'm guessing it's the exhaust.

Get the silicone MAF tubes to increase airflow smoothness to compliment you K&N filter. This is my setup as well. I hear intake noise prominently from my setup as well.

Good luck.

Two things I noticed after installing the Z1 CAI, sharper throttle response at all rpms, and pulls strong all the way to redline whereas before it felt to somewhat plateau above 6k rpm.

Because I only have the CAI and HKS exhaust on right now which is barely louder than stock, I can clearly hear the intake at WOT. Now, once I get the ART pipes installed, probably not so much.

This is what I've got. Definite sound difference and I felt an increased throttle response.

Would really be nice if they could respond as to whether the upgrade would fit to the AAM intakes but maybe after they're done prepping for SEMA...

So in order to run the "upgraded" filters, you have to modify the aluminum bumper? Because you didn't mention it, but that's obviously modified or a totally different bumper just to fit those filters.

Yes, crash bar has to be modified or you can purchase one already modified; I had mine locally done. Filter bases are 6" & overall largest diameter of filters are 7.5"
Didn't have to trim foam any; they sit right in the high pressure zone.

Where'd you purchase the modified crash bar?

Z1 Motorsport's sell the bar's already modified or you can go to their website & find the blueprints to cut & weld yours.
I think they charge around 200 for the bar/exchange.
