Dont drive your z in the winter time at all, if you can afford to buy a pair of winter tires, then you can afford to buy a cheap used car to drive just in bad weather. Just my 2cents!!!!!

No one should ever own a Z without a second Vehicle.

i dont believen that. We arent talking about a $120,000 ZR1 here, its a $36,000 car, not that big of a deal.

I agree. The Z works fine as an only car, even in areas where you expect to do a fair amount of snow driving. You just need the proper tires.

A second car definitely won't hurt, but there's nothing wrong with taking the Z out in the snow!

I'm glad I don't have to drive in any kind of snow...ever.

I'll deal with the heat in the summer to not have snow.

Honestly, VDC has to be turned off and use common sense. No hard accelerations and no sharp turns. (VDC off while driving on super snowy roads... Once VDC kicks in and locks the wheels... you will be stuck... it's better to have the wheels spin instead to lock them).
gooooooood point nogoodname, but goodthing is im in california and california never snows ^^

On the contrary I was surprised at just how well the VDC worked today in the snow. I found out the hard way you can't turn it off while it's active so I just powered through, I forgot about it until the tires started slipping but I figured if I have to stop anyway to turn it off I might as well see how far I get first. It never made me stop and I wouldn't have been moving any faster if it was off, the tires would have been spinning faster but I wouldn't have made any more progress.
If you plowing snow though, which is obviously very easy to do in this car, you will get stuck either way. You might make it a little further with no traction control but that fact is it's a sports car not a truck.
Tires will make all the difference in the world though and they are really the determining factor.

I don't think it has anything to do with the value of the car, it has to do with the car being completely impractical. There's also the fact that having a set of winter wheels/tires means having 19's, which is not cheap. If I didn't have a second car, I definitely would not have bought a 370Z. I'd have probably gone for something like a used Audi RS4.

I can barely get my hockey bag in the Z to go to games (I actually have to sort of mash it under the hatch). The car is not really practical for being anything beyond a grocery getter.

18" wheels will clear. You can get a nice winter setup for around $1500. Figure it will last you 3-4 winters and that's a good deal.

I found my Z was fairly practical. I never had to haul any bulky stuff, the hatch is plenty big enough for a big trip to the grocery store, and if I ever needed to really haul something I could borrow my dads car. For a performance car the Z has really good fuel economy as well.

+1. My winter setup on 18s cost me even less than 1500 and I was extremely impressed driving this morning. Local roads have not been plowed properly after this big snowfall in the northeast and the Z handled it beautifully. Winter tires make all the difference.

Mine was on 18's and it came to $1557 taxes/labour included. I do agree about it being impractical for being able to haul things. I couldnt even fit my army gear in the car. Hence why i bought a truck (that and i needed a truck anyways to haul the bike to the track). But none the less. The 370z is 100% capable in the snow, its just people dont know how to drive in the winter.

Same thing with my truck. All my buddies at work keep saying "oh have fun in the winter with a 500hp rwd truck, you dont have 4x4, no weight in the back and you have all that power, you are getting stuck"

Well seeing as i actualy have all season tires on (i wanted winters but i was away for 3 months and by the time i got back, couldnt find any that would fit my setup)...i havent gotten stuck once. I actually went to the base gym one day, just after 20cm of snow fell and the plows havent been out yet. Went through the parking lot, parked the truck, was walking to the doors and seen a Ford F150 (i think) that was stuck, he was in 4x4 and all wheels were spinning.

Like i said, it all depends on the driver. This is also my first winter with the truck and the way i learned how it handles in the winter is going to Winter Auto-X events at the base.

FK452 is a summer tire so it's going to suck in the snow.
