Default Seriously

I bought my Nissan in Canada (where I live) so I need a front plate... and when I bought the car the previous owner had allowed the dealership to bolt the plate straight to where the plate holder is supposed to go (not sure if i explained that properly).

So after reading the oil temp problems I decided I am going to buy the plate holder so it doesnt block the air dam... called Nissan and they told me $77.77 for the holder... REALLY?!

Anyone in Daytona that doesnt need theirs feeling generous and want to sell to me for cheap? Will be in Daytona in May.

Thanks!

Not much different after you add shipping. Hopefully someone doesn't need theirs.

Were you reading about this on the internet only, or do you have an actual problem?

I have only read about it... I bought my Z, drove it 2 days, and it went into the garage for the winter (Canada and winter, its like white on rice )

This was more of a preventative idea about moving the plate up, I also thought about cooling in general... I've heard blocking the radiator with a plate is never a good idea.

I am only just starting to gain an interest and appreciation for the mechanical aspect of automobiles (never before had I been financially capable of taking such interest), so any advice, or correcting the info I had been told prior, is appreciated.

Thanks!

lol, i went through my storage closet this week and actually found the plate holder, to bad i tossed it out. Wouldnt cost much to ship from Edmonton to Ontairo. Besides, under normal driving conditions you wont have issues. The temps have to reach 150*C for the car to go into limp mode. I was only able to hit that at the track and that was when i was dropping into second gear having the rpms at 4000-5000 for a most of the time and ambient temps being 30*C

I have been reading about the same debate in some other threads, and it sounds like it is an oil cooler that is the fix! Definitely on my short list of mods for my baby...

You won't have problems with oil temps when DDing that really only happens on the track. Plus you're in Canada no way it's gonna get too hot up there. Relocating your plate won't make a difference. Nissan wouldn't have made a car that can't even be street driven without having temp problems lol. Next thing you know people will be buying big brake kits for their trip to work.

Thanks for the input everyone. Really appreciate it.

sounds like ur best bet is to work out something with snakes, hes closest, shipping will probably cost u like 10-15 bucks, its not a heavy or overly large object.

There was one day at the drag strip it got to 45*C, which is like 113*F. Where i live, we got to have the widest temp range every. Gets to 45* in the summer and can get to -59*C in the winter.
