i got a speeding ticket for ~80mph in a 55 years back (can't remember my exact speed). it was 1am and happened to be in a construction zone with the big orange barrels on the side of the road, etc. cop gave me a ticket for $280 (double the normal $140 fine since construction zone). i just paid it since i was away from home and didnt want to drive to the court far away. couple of months pass and i get a check in the mail from the state for $140 with a note from a judge stating that since no one was working at 1am, it can't be considered a construction zone.
