167 in a 60 on my S1000RR. Cop let me off because I'm military and had just gotten back from Iraq and told him I needed an adrenaline fix. It was 2 am and nobody around. He was prior Army and said be safe and have fun HUA.

SS_Firehawk 02-01-2013 11:38 AM

DEC 04' in my new Scion TC doing 120. Hit a turn, understeer, lifted throttle... serious oversteer, drive through a light pole and over a median. $3000 for the light pole, $2500 for the wreckless driving ticket, 2 years suspension. Worst of all, no car insurance... it lapsed a week prior.

SEP 07' Doing 130mph in a 04' 325i for about 40 minutes straight about an hour north or Birmingham. I slow down for a city, then see lights about 3 miles back in the distance. He was chasing me for 20 minutes. Ticket was for 107 in a 55. Called a local lawyer and he got it dismissed.

I was a dumb *** when I was younger.

One of those will do 120?

SS_Firehawk 02-01-2013 12:04 PM

Limiter was 127, it would get there. Not quickly, but yes...

Got a ticket going 160mph in 65. Called my Lawyer - Got lowered to 1 point and $600 fine. Was about to lose my license.

Got a ticket for doing donuts in a private parking lot, 4 Police Cars and A helicopter showed up. - Called my Lawyer - Got Dismissed

Got Pulled over drifting in the canyons - Called my lawyer, got dismissed

Got pupped over doing 101 in a 65 - Called my lawyer, did traffic school, $80 dollar file, no points.

and it keeps going.... long list.

90 in a 65 on the bike up in Vermont. Thank god he got to me when i was doing only 90 cuz a minute before i was seeing way over triple digits. Got a road trip from Arkansas to BWI. Hoping to set the cruise and not get tempted. Biggest fear is getting more than one ticket in a different state. Honestly, with all these unmarked cruisers out there, im paranoid about hitting 80+

RoshDawg 02-02-2013 10:45 AM

Damn how do you guys get away with such crazy tickets by getting a lawyer?? What do they say? Every time I've gotten a lawyer it never works and I end up with the ticket. But I never get legit lawyers, just mr. Ticket and stuff like that. Are you guys getting actual lawyers to go to those group court hearings or what?

RoshDawg 02-02-2013 11:03 AM

My most annoying ticket was getting a 60 in a 25, even though I was going about 30-32. I passed the cop who was going in the opposite direction, and thought NOTHING of it given how huge and open this 25mph road was. (After a bunch of u turns and not knowing where I was going) down the road about 5 minutes later, that same cop pulled me over, and said 'I had to go 60 just to catch up with you!' I was like what? I've been pulling u turns in people's driveway and making many dead end turns (this place was like a maze) I was averaging maybe 10 mph after we passed each other. Yet he gave me a ticket for going 60 just because HE went 60! I was paying a speeding ticket that belonged to that cop for going 60mph trying to find me (not catch up with me).

Signed up for a court date, and within 3 days notice they changed the court date because the cop couldn't make the original one. I immediately called and said I could not make that court date, but the court needed 2 weeks notice to change the date!! Where's my 2 weeks notice??? So I canceled my hearing to avoid 'failing to appear in court', only to get a letter saying I failed to appear in court and I must go to another court hearing! Such a broken system.

perhaps maybe you shouldnt be allowed to have a licence or a car. You would think you would have learned your lesson the first time.

Back in the 1980's..

Got a ticket for " Impossible and Unsafe start."

I dropped the clutch and got the front wheels off the ground through the Intersection while frying tires all the way through the Intersection..

The Cop freaked out and I thought I would go to jail...He was so upset he blew it..

The Judge said that if it was "Impossible", how could I have done it....Case dismissed..

He should have just written it for exhibition of speed..

Same Car in the early 1990's doing 125 in a 65...Looked in the rear view and saw a CHP Bike going so fast it was leaning into the turn on the FREEWAY...

I looked at the speedo and my Heart fell out of my Body...Wrote me for 85.

Yep. Female troopers are the best. Male troopers have some kind of penis envy issue. Female cop once clocked me at 95 and accelerating in a 65. Gave me a $120 seat belt. She laughed and said "that was bad". Was in my slk kompressor at the time. Was clocked and ticketed in the same car a few months later for 85 in a 55. Male trooper. Went to night court and they reduced it to parked on pavement

The Dimer 02-02-2013 02:21 PM

I was driving my old car (Mitsubishi 3000GT) down to Florida for spring break my senior year of college. There were a couple cars and we were just convoying down from Purdue. Driving down the highway by Ashburn, Georgia I was leading and got nailed for doing 89 in a 70 through a "construction zone." I put that in quotes because there were no signs or even cones out.

Got hit with a $555 ticket, apparently Ashburn is notorious for crazy high tickets. Then a month later I got a letter from the state of Georgia telling me that my offense constituted a "super speeder" fine of an additional $200.

I didn't have time to take off of school and didn't want to pay a lawyer to go as a proxy, so I forked over the $755 and went on with life. Switched insurance companies last year a found out that the ticket isn't even on my record, at least not in Illinois, so I just pretend the high price was an "off the record" fine.

I think half these stories are BS or exaggerated. If you get caught going 60, 70, 80, or almost 100mph over the speed limit you will be pulled over at gun point, thrown face first into the cement and cuffed and then you *** is going to jail, plus you won't be driving for along time. I don't care if you have a lawyer or not.

Nailzs 02-02-2013 05:13 PM

Thirty miles per hour over the speed limit in Florida gets you a visit with the judge. No ticket.

For the record, I didn't get hauled off because I was OTW to Ft. Gordon with a car full of Army ****. Had 3 days to drive from Las Vegas to Augusta.

The car accident and reckless driving ticket, they couldn't prove my speed. They knew I was going well over 100mph by the length of the skid marks and damage of the accident. They were trying to coax it out of me when they were writing the Police report. I was not going to self incriminate myself, even in my minor state of shock.

I was damn near hauled off to jail for a Warrant in a neighboring county, speeding infraction. I think I spent about $2,000 in 2010 cleaning my record before deployment.

I can agree that they are much tougher now days..All my problems were in the 1980's and the 1990's...When I was crazy and young..And the Police were not as strict...

Now days around here over 95 in a 65 could land you in Jail...And that is only 30 over...

PapoZalsa 02-02-2013 10:11 PM

It was not the worst one but the most stupid and expensive one. 40 in 25 in my 92 Ford Ranger in Residental Zone. :shakes head: No even going down hill with the wind on my favor will that truck do that is that little strech up hill where the freaking cop tagged me.

Anyway my driving record is not the best one for the past year and didn't had the time to get me clear driving record from Florida. Anyway got a Lawyer and piad $156.00 with no points and +2 in the DMV with the Traffic School.

That is why I hate the Republic of VA.

Lug 02-02-2013 11:11 PM

Radar at 145 in a 50. Cop let me off and wrote it up as 60 in a 50. My favorite cop ever! :D

Glambutang 02-13-2013 11:46 PM

Left on red, no cars, 2am. $450

TheW3r3W0lf 02-14-2013 12:48 AM

Pssst. Pull over.

118 in a 45 early am hours between two cities about 10 years ago. Was driving my retired SSP police Mustang and took the officer several minutes to catch up to me from his cozy little hiding spot. He was pretty upset at my speed but noticed the car and stopped mid sentence with "Is this an SSP?". We spoke for a while about his rookie days in California and his first cruiser being the SSP car as well as some of the other police vehicles I had restored or built for off duty guys. He wrote me up for 10 over and circled on the citation "73+". Could have been much worse and I have slowed my pace quite a bit these days as things have changed.

gsxr750 02-14-2013 01:00 AM

I was riding my gsxr750 with my daughter down a suburban industrial main road, when a US mail truck slams on its brakes and makes a quick left turn, my only choice was a fast pass on the right shoulder or rear end the postal truck.

Turns out the local patrol car scene the whole event , turned out the cop didn't give a **** about the illegal turn of the postal truck and proceeded to write me up for 4 tickets, (speeding, passing on the right, no inspection, reckless driving) all BS except for the inspection.

End result plead not guilty, requested deposition , court and cop failed to provide it in the legal time provided, went to court and made a motion on my own to have all charges dismissed, judge reluctantly agreed and you know he wanted to throw the book at me, specially when a lot of ppl before me were getting hammered with $250-$300 tickets for one violation.

christian370z 02-14-2013 01:28 AM

Figure I should update... Last year on valentine's day, I was on my way down PCH through Malibu around 3pm in gridlock traffic going towards Hollywood to surprise her at her apartment. Was behind a truck going 45, the speed limit, with all the cars around doing that same speed or less. I even though I know every hiding spot on PCH, I still couldn't get any faster than 45 unless I want to plow into the flatbed truck in front.

I saw a motorcycle CHP in the median and thought nothing of if, a few minutes later I see him weaving through traffic and hand signaled me to pull over. I got out to get my wallet in the trunk, and he said he saw I had no front plate and was going 67. But lucky day for me, he said he'll reduce it to 63 to avoid reckless driving, but don't worry he then said "son, now that I reduced it you can take driving school for a nominal fee and get this all erased from your record, it'll be like it never existed." So basically he admitted he was driving revenue. $450 ticket plus $100 for driving school. The one time I wasn't doing anything, I got pulled over. Go figure.

Jbwrecked 02-14-2013 08:41 AM

Worst ticket yet? This past Saturday. Was just cruising to downtown SA to take pictures with my buddy. Speed limit is 65 and I see a new gen charger approaching then finally turns his lights on. I'm like sh!t..... I didn't even notice I was speeding and as I look down at my speedo while slowing down I see 75. I exit, turn the car off and place my keys near my gauges in sight and begin taking out my insurance and license. He walks up and says what's the hurry sir. I just tell him oh nothing really me and a buddy were just going to downtown to take a few photographs of our cars. He tells me did you know you were going 89 in a 65? I'm say wow. I speed but never really this much. Might have just Ben the excitement of going to take some pictures? Idk. I end up getting a ticket for 24 over as well as switching lanes without a blinker which I will admit too.

I am currently trying to figure out how to deal with this since i believe I've already taken DD about 9 months ago and my only other deal is Deferred Disposition. Thing is I'm 20 and apparently for people under 25 if you want to take probation you HAVE to take DD and I don't think I can. I live in SA TX as well so if anyone has any idea as to how I can approach this it will be greatly appreciated.

I was told to try to just tell em that I haven't taken DD in the past year and to try to get away with it because its happened in the past to a couple buddies due to te court not keeping track of it but besides that I got nothing except for talking to th judge and just sorry my way into possibly getting out of it and taking probation.

Sorry for the long rant. Been a long week :(

Ps: before anyone starts throwing that "oh stop racing on the highways" etc., I would just like to make it clear that we weren't. Just a cruise towards downtown SA to take some pictures and I ended up going faster than intended and got caught for it.

You really think a lawyer would be a good thing to do right now? I've never really dealt with going to court I've just gotten it dismissed and what not but as of right now I'm just trying to find a way out of having it off my record. Paying the ticket is the least of my worries it's just insurance I'm really worried about.

My cousin told me I could speak to an attorney that's at the court after setting an appointment buttttt Idk how much that would help with the judge either

Absolutely. If you're going to court for a traffic issue that you may not be able to take defensive driving for, bring a lawyer.

If you have time to go to court, do it and just ask the judge to take defensive driving. I know a guy who took it three times in one year, and I don't know anyone (out of about a dozen court appearances) who has been denied when they asked.

bdavis89 02-14-2013 12:06 PM

Freshman year of college, January 2008 and I was running late for class. There I was speeding in my little '01 V6 Mustang, went over an overpass on the interstate, and wham, ticket.

One month later I was running late again, same overpass, SAME STATE TROOPER, and a much larger ticket. I can still hear his voice "I pulled you over just last month, apparently you didn't learn your lesson." What an awful feeling.

Just passed my 5 year anniversary

I had to learn the hard way, NEVER speed when going over an overpass, even when late..

Bking 02-14-2013 12:21 PM

Did 210km/h in a 110km/h on my 03 Celica GT-S.

Ticket came close to $500 and license suspended for 4 months.

I was a retard.

Huck 02-14-2013 12:30 PM

Got pulled over on a suspended license doing 135 in a 35. Told the cop I cut a guy off who honked at me so I gave him the finger. The guy responded buy waving a gun at me, so I took off. My friend Stephanie who was in the car with me played along perfectly with the story. Long story short, after finding out that the cop and I had a lot of mutual friends he threw away tickets he had written me for speeding, driving on a suspended license with knowledge, incorrect address on license, no proof of insurance. Should have gone to jail and lost my license for up to 5 years, but he let Stephanie drive me home.

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. Happened to a couple of my friends but since the "sure" thing out there is that you can only take it once per 12 months it kind of brings my hopes down. I'll make sure to ask for Deferred Disposition and ask to take Defensive Driving as well. Thank you!

You mean the lawyer hired asks for an extension of the court date then the judge just dismisses it after?

Haboob 02-14-2013 03:40 PM

Worst ticket was "80" in a 65, bumped to 75. I went to court for it (already had been to traffic school in the past two years at that time, I go about every two years it seems, lol).

Probably would have gotten it dropped, but the judge said, "You never did state how fast you really were going." and upheld it.

Live and learn.

I've gotten off with warnings on far worse though, somehow. Pulled over by MCSO for 100 in a 65 (more like 45 since it was an interchange curve) and I played the BS story that I was nervous next to the semi-truck and wanted to get by ASAP.

He told me that he was on his way home and just to drive safe.

The lawyer reschedules it (sometimes multiple times), the cop doesn't show up on the new date, the judge throws it out. Sometimes it works. Other times my lawyer got them to agree to let me take defensive driving when I otherwise couldn't. Mine charges whatever the ticket would have cost me. If you've got a clean driving record you can sometimes talk the judge into it yourself. Wear a suit.
