Kids n 370s

I live at home. I don't plan on moving out until I'm out of grad school. If you have the opportunity, it just makes financial sense to stay at home.

If you have the opportunity, it just makes financial sense to stay at home. Even my buddies who have solid, career jobs are staying at home as long as they can. Why risk moving out when the economy is bad?

I'd rather live at home until I know I can safely move out financially. I'm not willing to take a risk with my money, health or happiness just to prove something to society.

edit: Though, if you are a fierce, independent sort of person, I completely understand and get it.

Re-thinking moving to the states... making 23 an hour as an undergraduate at the university and my contract doubles next April as a grad student (Canada).

Maybe there is just more demand in my field than in engineering? I dunno.

Yeah, I wouldn't leave if I was getting paid that much! I've been out of college for a year now and am still making $10k less than I wanted to my first year out. At least my job is going to look great on my resume for my next employer!

What about your parent's point of view? Wouldn't it be nice to have the home to themselves again? They have a life, too. All you have posted seems to focus on the child's viewpoint, when in fact it is the parent calling the shots (their roof).

kids say they pay for their own cars but adults pay mortgages and utilities, raise kids, and yet pay for their cars. big difference.
both parents use the GT-R though my mom drives it ALOT more than my dad .

our other cars that we use once in a while is a megane CC and a laguna

Pride of ownership is a big deal to some, less to others. I have to actually be the only person listed on the loan, or hold the title, to consider something "mine". Others are content to just have access to something. I have long been this way, preferrring to even buy something identical to that which my father has simply because I "want my own". Nothing wrong with either way, just a different mentality.

My parents offered. :V

I myself dropped out of college to start working full time and I am glad I did. In my Industry (linux system administration) experience is more important than a degree. Now I have After working for the same company for 4+ years I now get 25 days per year of vacation time (plus another 10 paid sick days). I am 25 years old, own my own home, own a 370z and make over 70k/year.
Good call.

I love lecturing and teaching, so I absolutely want to become a professor, however going (back) into network/sys admin stuff is my backup. I did that for three years and while I have no love for it, the constantly changing nature of the field does prevent it from getting stale.
