I was hoping for a more fun reason than lawyers.

yah, my G is drive by wire but has the traditional pedals. same with my honda fit.

im use to driving either pedal style so i dont really care, but i did have issues with my current all season floor mat getting into the way of the travel of my pedal on my fit. i had to cut a slit in the floor mat so that the pedal will have full stroke. with the Z's organ pedal, no such issue.

Right? Gas pedal has two positions: 0 and floor.

Hanging from top is much easier, i find myself adjusting my foot but you get used to it after a while.

I honestly can't tell any difference between the two pedal types.

Though, I prefer the looks of the floor-mounted pedal (like we have in the Z).

I almost can't stand this mounted pedal! I was so torn when I was looking for a car. I like the Z but not the gas. I had such a hard time shifting. I even stalled once. Like wth!!! Even after 4 months and 5k miles, the pedal still feels a little odd. I also think the pedal needs to stand a little more vertical. It feels like a really far reach when I floor it. I drive with the ball of my foot. I had never planted my whole foot on the gas pedal until owning this car.

I still drive with the ball of my foot/toes with this gas pedal.

I dunno, maybe I have long feet?

im fine with either pedal, but i think the Z's pedal looks good especially with the metal finish. i had to replace mine to the 'touring' pedals cause my car came with the boring black plastic and rubber pedal covers.

If you knew this was an issue why did you buy the car? Only my Jeep doesnt have a floor mounted accellerator. After this whole issue has been brought up I actually like the floor mounted better. Guess I am used to them.

I didn't even realize it was floor mounted until I ripped the interior out in the conversion to race car. It works for me.

I got the car because I liked it the best out of all the ones I drove. Trust me, I drove lots and lots of cars. I spent a whole day are carmax driving every car that I though I wanted. I then wen tot each individual auto dealer to drive them once more. Each in different trim. The Nismo seems to have the most sport factor with the looks, and interior fit and finish. Bottom line, the car feels and looks like a 40k sport car. Other cars like BMW 335,z4 looked nice but did not feel sporty enough. The mercs felt good to sit in, semi sporty but don't look sporty imo. Lex is 350 was a mix in between them both. But, it was far from sporty to me. The cayman was nice but it was a bigger hit for the $$ spent. I was really close to buying one until I found out about the new one that came out. It made me sad because it looked 100x better so the cayman/boxer was thrown out. Then I was about to plop down the $$ to buy the new cayman. Then The new C7 was gonna come out. I was torn once again. I decided to save up a few more K and buy a c7. Then 1.5 months went by and I decided I didn't want to dish out $750 a mo for a C7 nor $800 for a Cayman. I went and redrove the Nismo and said it was still sexy, fun and sporty.. It just has a damn floor mounted pedal !!! Yeah, the cayman is too, but it's a whole new SEXY!! Anyhoo, I happen to find a good deal, so I tested it. Then did the paperwork for her.

Engineers reading this are probably asking, what the. Really, what difference in performance would it make -- in the end -- none. There are other better things to mess or improve upon with the 370 other than the pivot point of the gas pedal.

I understand completely where the OP is coming from. I wish there were an easy way to change it. When I heel-toe with SRM off, it's more of a fat-foot than a true heel-toe. It doesn't bother me enough to not love my Z though

I don't have a problem when I wear shoes but I always drive barefoot in the summer. The hinge of the pedal is to high off the floor. I took two layers of rubber mat totaling an inch thick and put it under the carpet floor mat. Now the hinge is at the bottom of my heel and it pivots the same place my foot does. Cut the mat to cover the whole floor under the mat, so it does not move when driving.
