I honestly don't want anything for christmas. I mean, a house/gallardo or something would be cool, but that's not being realistic, etc. For $100? nothing. Really not for any price, short of the house, supercar, etc.
My Mom is buying me a microwave that I told her repeatedly I could buy for myself if I wanted it, but mine works just fine. She is still buying it and sends me e-mails like "The confirmation # for the microwave you don't want is..." I really just hate christmas, to be honest. It's an over-hyped excuse to get drunk off eggnog. There are better beverage choices, and I don't need excuses when I want to. If someone held a gun to my head and forced me to tell them what to get me for $100, it would be a $100 gift credit-card type deal. That way I could just buy what I normally buy, gas, food, etc. and save that $100 for the car I am saving up for. Last edited by ImportConvert; 12-08-2010 at 04:38 PM. |

Careful. I was wishing my computer were a touch faster (Pavilion 2.2 from 2008) and all of a sudden the motherboard died and I had to go drop $1K on a new setup to run the stuff I want to run.

So, anyway, what's your fun-car?
I, too, would like something peppy like a little Z, for a DD, but cannot swing 2-notes right now. The G20 was easy to just pay for/insure. A newer mustang/Z/Challenger, etc. Not so much. So, I gotta have a boring DD. I'm beginning to mirror that. I won't own another Infiniti or Nissan, for sure, after experiencing the build-quality they present. I dare say my 2001 GM was better made than this 2002 Infiniti. The car drives/rides great and I love the 7-disk and bose and power everything and black leather, it just breaks down way more than even my GM did. Also, who the hell puts a cap/rotor distributor on a car in 2002? WTF!? Yeah, had to replace that, and am amazed I didn't get misfire codes as bad as the rotor looked. Must have a mean ignition system to bridge that gap, lol All the accessories work flawlessly. With the GM, the only thing that went out was the T/O bearing at 85K miles, the clutch hydraulics (master cyl.), and the rear-end. All about the same-time. Other than that, it was little-stuff, accessories, etc. |

Mine? An Audi.
Edit: wtf, why do you edit and ask me a completely different question? Are you trying to set me up or something? My fun car is the Z. But hey, even my Audi is a joy to drive. It does everything I ask it to do.

Maybe when I get into my late 20's I can afford a fast DD and a fast fun-car. Right now, though, a fast fun-car and a boring DD seem to be the speed I am at in life right now. As has GM, the Z06 being the 2nd most reliable sports car made (second to the Porsche by a very narrow margin). Last edited by ImportConvert; 12-08-2010 at 05:20 PM. |

Z06 isn't that expensive for what you get imho. You can get one of the left-over 2010's loaded out for 72K right now. If you want a more stripped one, they can be had in the low 60's, or could a few months ago. For a new one, start about 10K under MSRP.

Basically, I would rather work for a few hours indoors than on a car that I have no enthusiasm for except as a DD. I have vision, but not enough vision to say "If I save a couple hundred here, I can apply it 6 months later" when saving that couple-hundred involves cut up hands and time out in the cold under the car. I set aside $1500/mo for my other car, and that is enough for me. Last edited by ImportConvert; 12-08-2010 at 05:26 PM. |
