This is a simple issue - SRM causes the revs to hang until you put it into 2nd. So you have to clutch in and go to second quickly for the revs to start dropping, then you have to wait a few seconds for the revs to drop before you engage the clutch. If you don't wait the few seconds, your shift will be jerky. However, this is only at low RPM. When you're up in the 5.5K+ range you can pretty much shift right away without the delay.

Yeah, the SRM's logic needs to recalibrated desperately by Nissan.

I think it wastes gas rev matching I hate going in hot into a corner and that rev matching revs the hell out of the motor going into a lower gear. It is easier to drive with it off. I guess for those of us who are used to driving stick for years it is easier without it.

I don't think it grinds. Just something like a linkage noise into 2nd gear sometimes. It's has been about 3K miles since the replacement, definitely much smoother when new. Thanks again.

You are hardly wasting more than a few ounces of gas with revmatching for your entire tank - nothing that would amount to more than 1/4 mile of driving.

so you just mash the clutch together with no rev match? you sure you know how to drive MT? SRM or not, when im in my G i blip each downshift and sometimes that means up to redline if im coming up fast enough. it's no different.

yah, keep driving and see how it improves on its own. if it continues to bother you, have the dealer look at it again at 5K miles noting that you have it plenty of time to break it in.

I wasn't impressed with SRM in test driving. It was part of why I bought without sports package. I have no regrets about that.

on the Z with its latency in throttle pedal input, the SRM is a must-have. unlike the pedal, the shifter blip is instantaneous.

plus you get brakes and some other stuff like coolness factor. gotta get the sports package unless you're a tracking the car and run 6pistons or something.

Plus I find the base wheels to be hideous.

Perfectly happy w/o SP. Have upgraded brakes and wheels, don't miss the spoiler. Looking into an lsd. I've heard the stock lsd isn't all that great anyway, and srm was just annoying. I know many sports owners who don't use it.

Also, because of absolute luck, the cost of upgrading my brakes and wheels was $1100.

I find myself arguing with SRM when it's on, therefore it stays off. I don't think my wife has ever used it. VDC stays off when I drive unless its inclement weather or long distance highway driving. I don't think my wife knows where the VDC button is

shado, I don't agree with you on the spoiler though. I think the a$$ is kind of bare with out the lip. I just like the extra lines it creates.
