Oddly, my car suffered from this problem for months. It bothered me every time I drove it. I even brought it to my dealer's attention back in July. Then I seemed to forget about it. I saw this post last night and tried to see if I still had the problem this morning and didn't notice it. I wonder if it just went away, or whether I have gotten so used to it that I don't even notice it at all anymore.

Do you know if Nissan dealerships will take-in a car requiring this service? If so, do their factory techs perform the work at their facilities or pass it off to a third party? |
You have to go to the dealership for the complaint, then they will order the washers. Then once the parts arrive you'll have to go back to the dealer to get them installed. It's cover under warranty and it's performed by a nissan tech at the dealership.

I took the TSB to my dealer (along with the other one about the stuck hatch release button issue - they fixed that).
It says: APPLIED VIN/DATE: Vehicles built before JN1AZ44(**)9M 410159 / 26-Jun-2009 My VIN turned out to be a little higher than this limit :-( (have a red '09 base AT) So I guess still no solution for me yet? And I believe the 2010's do not have this issue at all. Are there other people with production dates after June 2009 with the still issue? :-( |
bump?? anyone? my last reply?
|
wtf? why does it matter what the date is? If the problem's the same you'd think they'd look at the TSB and FIX IT...These dealerships are worse than dirty lawyers

Like I posted before complain in FB to Nissan North America, PM me I have a few emails address that will get the ball rolling. ;) |
KingZee, the dealership said that my model didn't have those same washers. They did order the parts for me, I saw them, but that was before they (and I) noticed that the range of VINs on that TSB did not match my car's.
I know they took the seat apart too after which they realized that the parts didn't match, and then we all paid closer attention to the TSB to realize that the VIN range didn't match my car's VIN - so for whatever reason, all this IS true.. unfortunately. For some reason, Nissan hasn't come out with a TSB for the same issue for my VIN range.. maybe they felt the issue wasn't there in my range. PapoZalsa: I'm PM'ing u. |

I have just started to get annoyed again with this problem. It seemed to go away for awhile and now it's back even worse. I can't believe this thread is so large!!
|
The problem is that the adjuster (for lack of a better term) rod comes loose from the seat frame in the front corner nearest the shifter. Nissan just used one of the one way push on washers that is supposed to "lock" onto the adjuster shaft. Well it does not work well.
What I had to do on the 350Z was take the seat out. Push on the shaft just a little bit and drill a hole through it. I then put a cotter pin through the hole. Never had the problem again, and my car saw some very aggressive driving on the AutoX course. |
This seems like something the dealership should take care of under warranty -- possible TSB?

Hi All,
print this and go to the dealer ...... I had the same problem. Now is perfect. See attachment below. Attachment 15463 |
Sounds good! Thanks!
|
Mine somehow fixed itself, strange.
|
I just bought my '10 and it has this issue...it doesn't list '10's as having this issue but I'll be taking it back to have them perform this TSB.
Anyone else with a '10 having this issue? |

I recall that there was a long thread on this a few months ago showing pictures of the fix in progress. It's quite a bit of surgery to eliminate the problem and I decided not to get into it on my Altima. I think someone said there was a TSB dealing with it. |

Awesome!
Hasn't been an issue yet, but nice to have the TSB on hand if it starts  |
Sorry, I didn't read through the whole thread but I'm basically looking to upgrade my seats to NISMO seats and I'm curious to see if any NISMO Z owners have had trouble with them during track days.
I drift my Z and my current seats are fine but I love the way that etched NISMO looks.. 1hot370, I know you mentioned that you own a NISMO Z. I have yet to test drive one at Nissan but are the seats semi-bucket? How well do they hold you in place when driving aggressively? |
I have an 09 I bought with 18,000 mile on it and when driving aggressively the drivers seat clunks or shifts from time to time....it's very annoying. What to do?
It is the sport/touring options |
Trade it in for a 12? Quirks been worked out by 2011 in body. 12 models have oil cooler to further help engine.
|
yah, mine's done that from the getgo. hasn't bothered me enough to fix it.
i think there is a tsb for it. check the service bulletin section. |
you'll need two of these: 87182-1EA1A $4 each

My driver side seat has issues, when I take a left or right I feel a movement under my ***! I can emulate the issue by coming out of the car, getting the seat back forward towards the steering wheel and pull and push the seat back, you can see the whole seat moves. Passanger side does not. Too scared to take it to Nissan. Those part numbers where do they go? In between the existing 4 bolts on the rail? thanks. As for the person a few posts above saying they fixed this in later models, no they didnt. mines a 2014. EDIT the bold . Getting out of the car and holding the front seat base and pulling and pushing it moves everytime. A lot of play in seat base. |
