cossie1600 06-17-2009 07:28 PM

Someone posted a fix for it.

Just grab the seat cushion above the forward and backward lever, rock it up and down and sideway and see if it clicks

dnazz32 06-17-2009 09:24 PM

Just to add to the list, I have a Base w/sport. 350 miles on the car and I also have the "click" in the seat frame.

KageZ 06-18-2009 10:55 AM

Going in for my "we owe you" on my Kickplates on Saturday morning. I told my sales person about the "click" and he said it would be addressed. We will see.

Premo34WV 06-24-2009 12:36 PM

Got my 370z just yesterday and I yep the seat click is there.
It is a little aggrevating and annoying

pgrmstr 07-06-2009 03:11 PM

My dealer replaced "the whole frame" and while it seemed to be fine, after a week or so, it's back.....so no joy. Service Mgr is calling Nissan and is supposed to get back with me.

On the DIY fix, has anyone confirmed if just the lock washers outlined in "seat fix" works or do you also need that flat bar?

dlmartin81 07-15-2009 03:05 PM

Same problem here. I've had movement since the first week of ownership. I started my own thread (Anyone with driver's seat movement) today but then later discovered that this thread already existed.

I too have the base + sport package.

I got the track replaced by the dealership last week. Initially, they seemed to have fixed it but it returned and has progressively gotten worse. EEEeeerrrrrrr.

And what's up with some of the posts I've been reading.......the dealership techs saying that "this is normal"??? Get the fcuk out of here....BS.

37Z 07-15-2009 08:26 PM

Driver's seat creak

Same problem on my base 370Z. The local Nissan dealership added my 370Z to the list. I'll either wait for the TSB or try the "Mightybobo fix".

kevr6 07-15-2009 09:44 PM

I haven't been back to this thread in awhile! Dam! I have a trim shop that helps me on things at the dealership I work at and he said he'll look at it with a fix it goal! I'll post what he does once I get him to look at it!

phantom21 08-07-2009 11:05 AM

I've got 450 miles on my Base+Sport and just started getting the movement on left hand turns only. Going to the dealership Monday. Anyone have any luck with the dealer finding the exact fix so I can point them in the right direction?

monthtrial 08-08-2009 02:55 AM

My dealership in Southern California [allegedly] has not heard of this issue. I did however attend a "study" at a Nissan marketing/Research center where I mentiond this issue; they had had some awareness of the issue and one of the managers told me that he'd get back to me - I have yet not heard from him.

I have 3500 miles on my car now and the issue seems to more annoying by the miles... maybe cuz I'm aware of it and haven't taken action. I'd be interested to see if the dealership you visit would have a solution.

KageZ 08-08-2009 09:28 AM

Talked to Nissan AGAIN and AGAIN still waiting on the techs to post a bulletin on a fix...tick tock Nissan. How is it possible that my 03' 350 had the SAME problem?!?! Love the care and getting frustrated with this seat!

phantom21 08-08-2009 10:34 AM

I talked to my dealer's tech department yesterday and, of course, they have never heard of the issue, just "bring it in and we will see if ever thing is tight. Also, there needs to be some movement for the seat's mechanics to work". Oh boy, already trying to find a loop hole out...

I'll let you guys know if I get anywhere Monday.

Buy a base car, expect base performance... Step down to an escort or festiva that's fully loaded... Lol

Nope, nismo factory seats are cloth with no heated option and stitched nismo logo, mine are Touring seats with power and heated, and don't move unless I push the power lever... I think the issue is with seats without power???

phantom21 08-09-2009 07:26 PM

Sorry we didn't pay for the fluffy, power seats; but we did pay over 30K for a car...any car from a cash for clunker should have seats that don't move!

I agree with you there.

SlikNik 09-18-2009 10:55 AM

Base Sport with 2000 miles purchased in August and I just started noticing the "seat click" It doesn't do it every turn but if I turn sharply left then straightenout quickly I feel and hear the seat click.

Not a big deal and I will investigate when I do the audio upgrade and pull the seats out.

One thing to remember guys, we all have an awesome car for the money. They are not individually crafted 1 at a time like a Ferrari. We are coming off an assembly line and there are bound to be little things that make a noise, rub, click. I still think our build quality is so much higher than American cars.

For 33K we have a steal of a car, heck my new 09 Corolla was almost 19k

One thing that annoyed me with the 350 was then infamous Tire Feathering, my 04 Touring went through its first set of tires in 8000 miles. The second set in 15,000 miles. Nissan finally acknowledged there was a problem and issued free tires. I am not sure how the whole thing ended up as I ended up trading it in after a couple years.

I am just glad I haven't heard one thing about tire feathering. I will take a little seat click anyday to drive a car like this for this money.

280z/300zx 09-18-2009 11:29 AM

My touring does this too every once and a while. Just thought I'd mention that maybe it's not just a base Z problem.

Val Vicious 09-18-2009 12:19 PM

I have a Base with Sport Package, and my seats are fantastic and don't move at all, I'm 145 lbs wet, maybe thats why they dont move, lol. :happydance:

Didn't think of that, you might have a good point. I am 190, 45 extra pounds shifting around:driving:

khtso 09-18-2009 04:12 PM

I'm 155lbs and the seat moves and clicks all the time.

Blown32 09-18-2009 05:08 PM

200 here and have never had a problem with the seating in my touring/sport Z.

Rhinetom 09-28-2009 10:45 AM

Yikes! My base, auto trans drivers seat moves a bit. Very annoying, I will let dealer know at first oil change.

schrute 09-28-2009 12:41 PM

2500 miles, no unusual movement from my Touring seat.

the_student 10-02-2009 01:36 PM

I figured out why my seat clicks. I was pulling the seat up and down and put my hand under the chair to figure out what was moving.

The brackets and the sliding mechanism were fine. I finally felt something moving. It was a a bar underneath the seat, which was part of the mechanism to raise and lower the front part of the seat. Can you guys check if it is the same problem. Anyway, when I put the front of the seat all the way down, it doesnt seem to move as much.

I wonder if there is anyone that can make something so that bar cant move when because I like it when the front of the seat is raised a little bit more.

Edit: I thought of something. Maybe I can attach a spring from the bar to the back of the bottom of the seat somewhere to keep it from moving around. I'll see if I can get to fix it. I don't have time until next weekend to really try and figure it out.

RCGsupra 10-02-2009 01:43 PM

My Touring w/ 2500 miles does this. It's not even under aggressive driving.

Montez 10-02-2009 01:51 PM

Mine moves slightly from time to time, I hear/read that the 09 Maxima has the drivers seat movement issue with some as well.

AK370Z 02-21-2010 07:29 PM

Nissan USA has released a TSB on this issue

http://www.the370z.com/370z-technica...at-corner.html
Thanks

ZForce 02-21-2010 07:58 PM

Touring/Sport no issues here, but thanks for posting up the TSB.

Suggestion: Start a thread for ALL TSB's in one spot or set up a Wikipedia for specs, DYI's, mod parts, TSB's. A good example is the one 350Ztech forum has setup....it’s a wealth of information. There are several peeps that are over here from 350ZTech that are driving a Z33, that could help with setting it up and contributing i.e. Dad and SmoothZ.. Just goes to show that a good forum community will attract all Z enthusiasts.

Pharmacist 02-21-2010 08:52 PM

my seat squeaks a little bit from the right side somewhere close to the shift lever. it's most obvious if i move my right leg left and right. i have the power seats. would this tsb still apply? could those star washers also be the cause of my problem or do the power seats have different washers? also, still waiting for that tsb on the damn fuel gauge inaccuracy

I have the 'Famous Nissan Seat Click Problem" on my Altima coupe, as well. It is not uncommon and was previously discussed on another thread a month or two ago. My Altima is 23 months old with 14000 miles and the click has not gotten any worse---just a click when turning hard and or fast in either direction. Someone reported he was contacting Nissan regarding it. It has not yet developed on my '09 base Z---but due to snow it only has been driven a few times and has only a few hundred miles on it. We'll see what happens, as I gather the click can evolve into a serious problem for some.

OldGuy 02-21-2010 09:25 PM

That's it. It's just a shame so much "surgery" is going to be needed. Hate to see my car torn apart but they Should know what they're doing. Just hope it's all factory tight after they put it all back together and new problems or rattles aren't created. Exasperating when you buy a new car anymore...

My last post referred to the TSB that was posted.

Holy, This thread is still out there!! Glad there is a Service Bulliten now!

dudafunk 02-22-2010 03:50 PM

So I saw the TSB, are we supposed to take it to the dealer for getting this fixed by showing him the TSB for the seat clicks? Is it free to repair etc.? Or do we have to go to any repair shop and pay ourselves?

You go to the dealership, they verify the problem and fix it.
It might take two visits, first to explain the problem and show them and then the next is to fix it.
