I've taken mine in, dealership noticed the issue, replaced the whole seat frame, and yet, same issue.

My first problem. - Page 3 - Maxima Forums

Thanks for the information!! I know Nissan's having some financial issues these days, hope that won't effect them resolving a (in my mind) dangerous problem!

Even though it doesn't seem serious it could very well be, especially at the wrong time. If the dealership can't resolve the problem, call Nissan Consumer affairs. The issue must be addressed.

Hi all, I sent the following email to Nissan Consumer Affairs and the NHTSA Complaints Dept. on our behalf (hopefully we'll receive a response!):

Hello, a number of Nissan 370Z owners are reporting issues with unreasonably high oil temps and overheating, both in normal driving conditions and on the track. Please offer a solution to ALL owners to FULLY rectify the situation. The 370Z is a sports car that is built to handle and outperform the competition at half the cost. The Z is an icon. If a recall is necessary, please issue a recall.

Also, a number of Nissan 370Z owners have issues with their seats moving under braking, acceleration, and cornering. The seats should NOT be moving at all while driving. Please investigate this issue immediately and FULLY rectify the situation. This is a VERY LARGE safety matter. If a recall is necessary, please issue a recall.

Thank you for your time.

P.S. To investigate these claims, please view the following links:

Just got my 370Z AT base model for approximately 3 weeks now. Experiencing the same problem with driver seating moving and randomly hearing clicking sound. It is noticeable and even passenger can hear it.

Took it to Nissan dealer to check it out, they said they cannot problem and suggest to road test with the shopforman. Also realized that there is buzzing noise from the back of the car while driving home from the shop. Seems like something went loose like windows shaking or bolt shaking sound.

I got it schedule again to go back for road test. Hope they will do something about it cause it is quite irritating.

Dropped off at the dealer today to get the rear cargo cover installed and had them report that the seat still moves. Generating a history of concern!

As another avenue, check your state's Lemon Laws.

My first experience with California's laws was excellent. I returned my 2008 Ford Mustang GT two weeks ago for a full refund (all payments, doc fees, acquisition fees, etc).

Yes I know, FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily, so reliability is one reason I'm buying a Z (hopefully, it has better reliability).

BTW Ford, with their money issues, paid up with minimal fuss.

The seat problem has been identified with the shopforman. They found that the seat rack is not secure and have to order the rack. However, the rack is on national back order, so don't know how long it will take to get the part before I drive my car back to the dealer again to fix it.

Gagawoolala 04-07-2009 10:26 PM

Dealer contacted me and got me the seat track for installation. Drove it back on the highway and local, have not recognize the problem again.

Will report if it continue. However, there is buzzing sound from the back of the car when drive on uneven pave road.

zeebra 04-08-2009 07:48 PM

Just to add to the list of people with the issue.. Base with Sport same problem 300 miles so far.

So they replaced the track and not the seat fame? Do you have the invoice w/ part #. Even better, post your invoice? ;)

NO

pgrmstr 04-27-2009 11:02 AM

I have the base w/ sport and have this issue... I noticed it pretty early on and it seems to happen more frequently now. I have it schedule with the dealer next week to take a look at.

ChrisSlicks 04-28-2009 09:50 AM

My dealer tech said that the movement was normal.

Doesn't bother me too much at the moment but I'm sure it will get worse.

They replaced the seat rack instead of the seat frame. I guess they have secured the seat frame also cause from time to time, you can still feel the slick movement underneath the seat. However, it is much better than the initial problem.

However, I am still getting that buzzing noise from the rear fixed. Attempted to the deal twice already, and fixed it once. However, customer service not returning my call. Will need to make another appointment to go in and have another look.

Thanks!

I get a lite high creak from the trim around the rear glass on the passenger side...very sporatic! I just haven't had time to address it! So far no other sounds. I'm starting to get used to the seat movement but think I'll end up taking it to a trim shop (interior restoration shop) and have them figure out what's moving and fix it!

1500 miles now and my seat just poped... thought i was outa the woods..

I have a base w/ sport and my seat rocks.

MightyBobo 05-04-2009 08:03 PM

I can definitely feel my seat move a little bit. You really just feel a slight "tick" when it shifts, but it is there.

Is that "rocks", as in, "kicks a$$" or "rocks" as in "moves"?

Nhtsa

Anyone having this problem can document it with the NHTSA. The more problems that occur that get recorded, the more likely something will be done by Nissan about it. I had a problem with my 06 Titan concerning the pinion seal on the rear diff leaking. Around 30 or 40 complaints to the NHTSA, and Nissan wasnt even asking for warranty info, just replacing the seals and moving on. If the Base model/sport package is the only one with the problem, than it needs to be addressed. Not just limited to sport package, since that has absolutely nothing to do with the seats, so if there are base model owners out there...and there seems to be more than one......get it documented.

monthtrial 05-05-2009 12:45 AM

I've had two base model 370's (one w/ sport package) and they both had this notorious seat/rack shifting issue. When I mentioned it to the dealership 3 months ago, they hadn't heard of any other instances.

zilent_jay 05-05-2009 05:22 PM

Base with sport. Didn't notice it until I checked. Front seat rocks side to side. For any technician that says this is 'normal'... ask them why the passenger seat doesn't do it too? It's normal for the drivers seat to move around while driving while the passenger seat is solid? Hmm.. I don't think so, Nissan.

My words exactly!! It seems to be getting worse also!! I have noticed that it is more evident with the front lower cusion in raised position with side adjustment knob! My Nissan dealership and my contact at Nissan North America have not gotten back to me and apparently will not be!

We at Audi would never treat customers like this or release a product that does this!! Dam shame! (yes, I work at an Audi dealership)

pgrmstr 05-12-2009 10:07 AM

Had mine in for something else and asked them to check it out, the tech felt the side to side movement and has a new seat bottom/frame/track on order for it. Had no problems with them at all.....

khtso 05-13-2009 04:11 PM

I have same problem with my base model (non SP). To me it seems like a problem with the seat locking in after adjustment. Is it only me or does it seem like the adjustment mechanism is really flimsy.

I also have a strange creak coming from the back. I haven't placed it yet, but think it's coming from my passenger side tailight assembly.

ChrisSlicks 05-13-2009 04:20 PM

The driver's seat also sits higher than the passenger seat and the passenger seat does not exhibit the problem. My guess is that the slop is in the height adjuster mechanism.

monthtrial 06-08-2009 12:38 AM

Great suggestion KEVR6 - the more folks complain about this issue, the more quickly Nissan will spring into action about getting the issues sorted out. I'll be getting mine documented w/ the dealer and see hope they can help me. Otherwise, I might have to go w/ your 14 1/2 bar fix.

Richie 06-14-2009 11:27 AM

im trying to find the post where someone said they had fixed this problem? can anyone find it?

Richie 06-15-2009 08:43 PM

thanks mate, do you think you can resolve the problem just with locking washers? or do you need the bar aswell ?

trader44 06-17-2009 11:16 AM

I have the same issue with my base w/sport package. Had the car 2 week so far and 800 miles. Funny thing, I also have a 2005 Murano and have the same issue.

Premo34WV 06-17-2009 03:10 PM

I have the same problem with my 350z. I'm picking the 370 next week....I'll post whether my out-of-the-box car has it. Being spankin new it should not do this

KageZ 06-17-2009 07:12 PM

300 Miles in on my Base M/T and yup there it is. My 03' 350 had this problem. Not that big of deal, but as with the 350 I will take her in and get it fixed.

Just weird that (according to thread) The Maxima, Murano etc. are having the same issue. Seems like it should be a easy fix.
