I think the LS motor is lighter. Pretty close in any case.

I've done all I'm doing to my engine, with just a tune and intake/test pipes/exhaust. When the engine blows, an LS is going into it.

But mine is just a track car anyways and already has no resale value.

And of course when you say LS swap you will be going with a LS7 of course, right?

I would be curious to see what the weight difference of one of our motors compares to an LS.

Skeeterbop 09-12-2011 07:31 PM

while I can't find a weight of the VQ, here is the weight of a couple LS engines from gmperformanceparts.com: LS1= 409 LS3= 415 LS7= 440
The LSA and LS9 don't have weight listed, but if i had to guess i would guess somewhere around 440 if not a little more.

I don't know at this point. Hopefully it is two or three years away. I know I will kill it eventually though.

Probably by then a LS7 or even a LS9 will be very cheap.

Skeeterbop 09-12-2011 09:43 PM

I would go with the LSA, it's just a detuned LS9.

VQ35 long block including intake manifold, no accessories - 313lbs

3.7HR is 30-40lbs heavier?

I want to do this at the end of my engine's life but everyone keeps saying not to.

Interesting

Keep us posted on your progress with maybe a build thread?

:excited:

Putting an LS7 engine would be pretty sweet.
