wooo!! awesome man, the clamps are spot welded to the pipe, I used a chisel and hammer to bust it off, give that a shot, you could probably even use a flat tip instead of a chisel. I also used some PB Blast on the hangers to lube it up a bit and the stockers came off with ease.

Oh, and I know you hate the LED fuel gauge on the Z, but I loved it. Compared to the GT it's awesome. I miss knowing exactly how many "dots" of fuel I had.

Oh and I miss the Z's fuel economy, too. I could easily pull ~20 mpg average out of that thing with my regular mix of semi-aggressive city/highway driving. With the GT I can pull 16-17 on average. I could probably do a little better but it's hard to stay out of the loud pedal with this car.
True, I had a base Z as well, and base for base, the Z is better. Never got to experience the premium interior on the GT, I am but a lowly ground pounder and im not ballin like that lol.

I hated the LED gauges for the simple fact that with a full tank, i'd still be missing two dots, made it hard to judge how much fuel I really had in the tank.

As far as fuel economy goes, in the city, my GT gets around the same mileage as my Z did (17-18), i'll attribute your worse economy to those 3.73 gears

I agree that the base Z > base Mustang on the interior. I think the fact that the Z had the leather wrapped center stack and a pretty badass steering wheel in both the base and touring models is what does it.

BTW, I know a lot of the base Mustang guys are replacing their steering wheels with the GT500 one... might be something to consider if you don't care for the base wheel. I think it goes for around $340?

I've never been one to care about the interior comforts, the steering wheel looks nice, but right now my priority is saving $700 for the JLT Intake (its carbon fiber, eeeek!) and Brenspeed tune. I had a spirited run the other day on the highway (up to the speed limit of course) with a Roush and I pulled a car on him, now w/ that intake/tune, next time he'll go home crying.

I will say that driving my Z was an overall more engaging, enjoyable experience daily driven, but man, the torque and roar of that 5.0 is truly life changing.

Damn you guys for not having the Brembo cars!

The Brembo gets the stiffer springs, shocks/struts, and better tires. This thing is a BLAST in the twisties. Yes, the Z was more precise, but in terms of outright grip they feel the same and interestingly the Mustang has a much better balance to it... It doesn't have the understeer that the Z does in factory trim. The Brembos are killer, too. Braking feel is a lot better.

There are a few things I miss about the Z but the Mustang does not leave me wanting one bit as far as the driving experience goes. It's a BLAST.

Also, I never had the LED issues with my Z. All my dots were lit after a fill-up!

He works at UH, and I have yet to ever see his car.
Well, I did see it once, the day he posted he sold it for a Mustang at Baker Nissan.

Future post on Camaro 5:

"So, some Mustang creeper has been stalking me for a few weeks now trying to get me to race."
