Free oil changes...

Should I use my free oil changes that the dealer gave me? They gave me 5 free oil changes. Should I trust them? What would you do?

Possibly watch the fine print. I recieved 3 free, and that's only the price of a normal oil change. It's not including the price of the Ester. I take mine to the dealer, and they always do a nice job with what I need. You don't have to find a place to recycle the oil, buy jacks, or the whole nine yards. You just take it in. Chances are, by now, they've done a bunch of Z's already, so they know what they're doing.

The dealers have more than likely done a lot of oil changes on Z's at this point.

Do Z's have that big plastic panel covering the underside of the engine for aero purposes?

On the G, there are something like 12 screws + 4 clips holding the thing together. The last time my dad's G went to the dealer, they didn't put them all back. . .

That is one of the few reasons why I do not want to go to a dealer to have it done.

I hate people that do half a$$ed work.

Oh, our cars do have the under body panel.

You should be able to dispose of the oil in Auto Zone or Advance Auto

This is not uncommon. Most techs are paid by the job so the quicker they do it the more money they can make. I have 2 brothers that are Techs (Not Nissan techs though). They try very hard to complete jobs as quickly as possible. Unfortunately speed has a tendency to negatively affect quality.

Plus, you can forget about them using a torque wrench. I don't care what a shop or dealer tells you. They rarely use them.

I would if it's a good dealership. I have 3 years free maintenance. and on the 2nd oil change, they spelled oil all over the bottom of the engine area...It was a lot. So now I don't know if I will ever go back for oil changes. The sad thing was it wasn't cleaned up and they didn't tell me.

I do oil changes on all my cars. It's not hard. After one oil change you, will be pro.

I got like 3 gallons of use oil here. lol

My plans were to do it myself before buying the car till they gave me 5 free oil changes. Now I am decided if I should use them or just go with my old plans.

Not all dealers are bad. Just watch them work on the car and make sure they use the good stuff.

I opted for the Silver Plan Maintenance option which is 36 months or 45,000 miles, whichever comes first (oil changes). My dealer allows me into the service bay to personally watch the whole process. It takes 15 minutes. Better than sitting in the waiting lounge to wonder if they're actually performing the service properly.
