Default Lease a Lemon

I have had three engines in this car. Everyone of them has used excessive oil. See my last thread "Three little pigs". Nissan Consumer Affairs told me they would replace the vehicle but as it turns out they are just selling me a new one. My payments up to now would be lost. I guess that I was the guinea pig for Nissans " Lease a Lemon program". Time for a good lemon law attorney.

In North Carolina you don't really need an attorney. Go to the N.C. Attorney General's website and it is pretty clear cut what is required. I have used the lemon law to force a refund for a 2003 Cobra and a 2006 Trailblazer SS without a lawyer. If the car meets the law's requirements it meets them, if not..

Thankyou for the tip.The car does qualify as a lemon. 20 days in service during a 12 month period. The car spent 21 days in service just for the third engine.

If you have an attorney and win, the maker pays your bill for him.

I dont see how 3 engines would do the same thing when most of us dont have this issue. Kinda wierd but yea they need to give you a new ride for what is left on your contract now.

You are of course entitled to a new car, with old lease, or all of your lease money back.

Since I am at 2250 miles and have added nearly 4 qts of oil now, and am in the middle of an oil consumption test.
Why would it take 21 days for an engine? Did the engine fail? Is this what I have to look forward too?
Best of luck to you.

He's got to be the unluckiest man in the world. Consider how rare the problem -- now consider getting three engines like that in a row. I mean, this doesn't even happen when there is a known problem -- so something this rare is really weird.

Billy, I can validate everything I have posted. I will not put names on line other than the dealership. Cross Roads Nissan, Wake Forest NC. I'm 52 years old and have NEVER had this experience with any car. My previous car was a 03 Evo heavily modified by Works and Muellerized. I never used one drop of oil in 80k miles. I had one of the very first 370Z. Purchased in March of 09. A month ago when Nissan had a Dealer Technical Specialist look at the car he told me his recommendation was to give me a new car. He also said that "changes have been made to the new short block and this should not be an issue on 2010 models".

Fixing what is wrong/broke/****** up, is want really matters. Other wise, "new model" purchasers will go else where.

I'd be interested in hearing what short block changes have been made. I have not heard anything about this.

Oil consumption was a problem on some VQ35s in the 350Zs and a few other Nissans, but not wide spread...seems to be even more rare on the VQ37s.

I know GMs LS7 engines have been known to have oil consumption issues as well....

I called the DTS today. He told me that he believed the problem was with the piston rings. He was going to confirm this and get back to me. He also said that cars produced after 5/1/10 would have the updated block. He said it was possible it could be sooner. I asked the service manager at the dealership and he was also aware of the changes and said that cars produced after 2/1/10 would have the changes.
I did get a new car today. I basically lost my payments made to date. Got black after having graphite. Still 6 speed with track package. My fist car had a production date of 10/08. The new car was produced 6/10.
