I do it all the time. If I'm accelerating quickly up to ~45 mph I'll usually short shift 1st to 2nd... somtimes third... then I'll go straight into 5th. If

I do it all the time. If I'm accelerating quickly up to ~45 mph I'll usually short shift 1st to 2nd... somtimes third... then I'll go straight into 5th.
If you are already at your desired cruising speed in, say, 3rd, gear, there's no reason to go 3-4-5 or 3-4-5-6... Just jump to the gear you want to be in. Same thing for downshifting...
