I like the Mazda setup as well. You could shift up or down with either hand. The shifter also had pull back to upshift and forward to downshift. I don't know if this is true for the Z, but my dad's maxima had the opposite setup.
How difficult would it be to switch which paddles shifted up or down? Is this layout also on the GTR?
