Question for 7AT drivers

Ok MT guys don't feel left out just a question for Auto guys.
I must be backwards but after driving my auto for a couple of months now
it would feel more natural to me if the paddles were reversed.
if the up shift paddle was on the left and the down shift on the right.

anyone else have a opinion on this.

Never had any issues.

i actually thing most natural for auto is the porsche pdk way. pull back to shift up, push in to shift down.

i dont have an auto 370z but i got an auto subie outback with paddles and pretty sure all paddles are right up left down. (cept for aforementioned porsche)

feels perfectly fine

My last car was an '06 Miata 6AT. In that car both paddles were upshift, to downshift, there were 2 smaller buttons on either side of the steering wheel for your thumbs. I really liked this setup because I could use either hand to upshift or downshift.

As far as reversing where the paddles are I don't think it would matter much to me. I got use to the current setup after a couple of weeks so I expect if they were reversed I would have gotten use to it that way as well.

No issues, and if they were reversed we would get used to that too.
Does it really matter?

Yeah your right its not like there going to change them.
its just me i must be back a__ward or something...

i gotta get use to it. i wasn't showing off or anything today but down shifted
when i meant to up shift and it wasn't pretty. felt like and idiot which at the time i was:driving:

i think it makes sense. all of the higher gears in a MT are to the right of the lower gears. So it makes sense. also, think of nintendo games, mario played left to right. right was always foward.

Lol!

I like the Mazda setup as well. You could shift up or down with either hand. The shifter also had pull back to upshift and forward to downshift. I don't know if this is true for the Z, but my dad's maxima had the opposite setup.

How difficult would it be to switch which paddles shifted up or down?
Is this layout also on the GTR?

They work fine for me,on the road and at the drag strip.

It's totally Ferrari or F1-style... the only way to go IMO. I had never driven a DSG or similar transmission before the Z, and it felt completely natural to me on my first go. I like it.

I would think it is an easy change.

The one change I do want to see done is the more natural "move stick up to shift down" option w/ twin clutch setups... so much more natural to want to push forward to slow down and pull back when you are accelerating... thoughts?

Take out steering
pop out that jack on the paddle
switch the side

Theres what you wanted
Its just simple wires thats it

ive said the same thing in another thread. i prefer that. which is why i got a stick shift. but even in other cars it annoys me cuz i always shift down instead of up. oh and also cant get used to the side to side shifting either (mercs) i think it was right to go up and left to go down. i keep pulling on the damn thing and nothing happens.
