First, I have to tell the OP, you're fighting a losing battle. No one is going to listen to your complaints about not winning the contest, because you are a biased party. Sorry, man. I lost too, but I'm ok with it.
Second... The more entries into a lottery drawing, obviously, the higher your chances of winning (see NBA draft lottery). This isn't hard to figure out. Third... The contest ran thru MEMORIAL day... Yes, we know that Independence day just happened. But, we are also aware that the contest ended on June 28th... so the chances of Independence day being the day that the database corrupted, and skewed the results, is slim. Memorial day, however, was right in the middle of the contest (like the OP described) and allowed him (and everyone else in the contest) to log back in, and answer the trivia questions.
