yah, it's an effective system. just be smart not to drag grit across the paint (use clean towel and make only one pass). been using it lately on my dd. no swirls or haze.

Happy - once you get comfortable using the stuff, I think you'll love it. Remember to wipe in one direction, and as soon as you see dirt on the towel, change to a clean part of the towel. I've never used more than two towels to "wash" the car.

I do the roof, hood, and trunk first, then move to the upper part of the doors and fenders next, followed by the nose and tail. The last part I wipe down is the lower sides of the car.

For my wheels, I'll cheat and use a clean damp wash rag, rinsing it out with water after each wheel - the fronts being the dirtiest.

I'll then follow that up with a wipe down with Griot's Spray-on Wax, including the rims.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Just finished up my two track day. At the end of the last session had an issue. It's transmission related. Going to dealer tomorrow.

I have a thread started in the drivetrain section. This is a hole lot worse than just one gear. It might be the syncro's but it would have to be in every gear.

Oh thanks for the information! I was wondering how many towels was a typical use. Someone online that reviewed it was doing his three series with two towels as well!

Ima have to check out the Spray-on Wax as well if the Spray-on wash works out well. You just wait and see...by this time next year I'll become such a Griot's whore that I'll have the Griot's cart and wear a Griot's T-shirt AND hat while cleaning the Z.

Sounds good happy. I'm glad I'm not the only one here. hahaha

The sprayon wax is good stuff. If you want wipe as u dry wax/sealant with durability check out Prima Hydro. You can use it on glass and plastics too without getting white residue. Lasts about NXT techwax. I use that on my dd and spray on wax on my Z.

Don't be afraid to use more than two; it's all a function of how dirty the car is. It's so dry here in Houston, I'm mainly cleaning the light spray kicked up by the tires from the sprinkler run-off going to work.

As far as being a Griot's whore - welcome to the club. If you get good enough, I'll introduce you to Madam Chan.

I was looking at the spray on wax on their site. It seems it's more for sustaining and supporting between waxes than as an actual wax itself. I am currently using TurtleWax Ice synthetic sprya wax and it seems to work pretty well. Car is shint and water still beads very well after 3 months or so when I wax again.

bruce- that's correct. i use it as LSP (Last step process) to get the extra boost in depth and shine. but since i dont dd my Z i dont need to use traditional waxes. the SpeedShine has enough wax that it gives a very nice protectant. boost it with SprayOn Wax and it's a very strong protectant (until next wash).

also sprayon wax is a great protectant to use on the front bumper making bug removal easier.

final note on the waxes from Griot's. it's got great water beading power great for QD. i prefer polymer on my dd as it sheets water off the panels.

If there's one thing I'm not afraid of, is using more towels to get a job done! My wife can't understand why I'm constantly buying more!

Prima Hydro, huh? Well lemme see here.....hmmmm, that's not a Griot's product Mr. Kenchan! I think you owe the swear jar a dollar! Yah, I'm checking that out on Amazon now. Thanks for the recommend! How often do ou use it, because it seems that you spend most of your finish up work with a QD?

So would this be good to use with Meguire's Gold wash in between waxes with the Turtle Was Ice synthetic spray wax that I am using?

happy- yah, Prima is the brand name. you can buy it from www.detailersdomain.com too. they are a vendor here and phil's been pretty good.

i use Hydro almost every wash to enhance the polymer sealant's durability (Griot's Paint Sealant). i also use it on my wheels too. as for QD (SpeedShine), i use it pretty much when the car has minor dust/bug guts, bird crap or has sat through morning dew.

for my dd and wheels i use Prima Slick. it's polymer based and can be used on pretty hot surfaces without going werd.

if you're already using synthetic spray polymer you dont really need to use this stuff. best you just use Ice spray instead after cleaning your car with SprayOn CarWash.

dont want to mix wax and polymers unless you're using the wax as LSP. you dont get the correct bonding when you mix.

What's all the fuss about this waterless stuff? Is is because of water use restrictions? Pardon the dumb question if that is what this is.
