if you have time, you might want to try using the 205 after the ultimate compound. then again for the perfect finish, i dont know THAT much about the products. /waits for kenchan to chime in
Thanks for the information. I have wanted to try the 205 for a while.

np. i wish i got a dark color to enjoy the hard work put into polishing/cleaning the paint. with white...it just gets whiter? im sure your 40th would look gorgeous with a fresh polish and sealant!

Sounds like a "next weekend" deal. I'll post pics if I go for it.

'Compound' is what bodyshops usually use to polish clearcoats after painting.

It can be a very coarse diminishing abrasive. I would try firmer pad on the same polish you currently use (and have experience with) and see the results first.

anyway, i was bored so i gave the Z it's first real detail today in the garage:

ONR > clay + ONR > klasse all-in-one > meguiars #205 > a quick ONR detail > klasse sealant glaze. all done with with a griots 6"

paint is soooo smoooth and shiiny
Glad to see another ONR user. I hope you are using the 2 bucket/gritguard method? I haven't used my Klasse stuff in a long time. Might have to whip it out again.

BTW, if you like #205, you should try Menzerna products. I use PO85RD and PO106FA alternately, and it jewels it up much better then Meg's stuff does. Love Menz polishes.

M205 has a good working time, but as mentioned above, M205 doesn't finish quite as nicely as Menz does. If you really want to get those fine scratches out, try out Menz Power Finish or SIP or Meg's 105 with an orange or white pad first, then use M205 or the other Menz stuff mentioned above.

whaaaaaaaat? I love our white man. The hard work into our PW results in not only a really wet look, but also makes the flakes pop, esp in the sun. In the sun, black can't compare to white. And I've had 5 black cars, all polished to perfection.

I agree.... although, even M205 on a more aggressive pad may not be enough. If he wants to stick with Meg's stuff, he should try M105 with a white or orange pad, or use the polishes I mention above.

As for me today, I washed and waxed Zena today.

Water softened H20
ONR capfuls into Pinnacle 2BM
Optimum Power Clean for tires
ARO for rims
Daytona wheel brush
Boar's hair brush for emblems, gas cap area, lug nuts
Dried using FK425 and several MF's
DG Aquawax on rims
Pinnacle SSII for final LSP
Stored her away for the day/night (rain tomorrow).

^ wow, sounds like im reading autopia in your post hahaha

but really, yes i do use a grit guard and 2 bucket method. at least i have ever since i learned about it a few years ago! as for menzerna, ive heard/read great things..but since i honestly dont have much time, and the paint is still new, ill stick to the stuff i have. once i run out of my current products i will definitely look into some better stuff though!

Haha... sorry I get carried away with my "detail" in my posts (pun intended ). But yes, I'm an avid member of autogeek, autopia, etc and other forums. Used to own and run my own detailing business... just not enough time anymore with the kid growing up. I miss it sometimes. Would it trade it anyday rather than working behind a desk.

But yeah, I hear ya on not much time. But tbh, Menzerna is the king of all polishes. Try it out some time.
