Ok, I've gotta say it......I'm having a b!tch of a time keeping up with this thread! I check it at the end of each day lately and I'm like (in Sean Penn-like Fast Times-esque tones) "WHOA", then I'm like "whooooah"!

hey thanks! yah, we move a long very quickly on this thread. hahaha. :icon17:

Thanks, beach!

This early am washed my G. Was still cloudy and sun wasn't strong so thought it would be a breeze. Was I wrong! Super sauna hot. :D. Got my excercise for the entire month of August. Now I relax. :icon17:

Kenchan, that CPL filter does wonders for SLRs! Your newest picture is definitely your best yet. Keep it up... You're making me want to get my SLR out of the dust and take some pictures.

onzedge 07-29-2011 09:47 AM

Today, I drove my 370 to work -- an uneventful drive and probably the highlight of my day. Now I await the onset of that wonderful, mind-numbing, ego-deflating and dysfunction-celebrating exercise that we call the weekly staff meeting. After that, it is on to getting my will to live sucked out of me one client interaction and billable hour at a time until it is time to motor the Z back home.

Once home, I will ponder the wonder and joy of working in this industry and what kind of depraved insanity it takes for people to actually want to do this. Then I will wash the 370 and everything will get right with the world again.

Everyone have a great day!

You know what... I might have to invest in a CPL. Circular Polarizing Filter eh? Where can I get those? Do my local photo specialty stores (that sell the DSLR's and others) sell those? I have to check. And how is this used? Just installed on the end of my VR lens? I have the 18-55 VR lens for my D60.

I know what you mean, sir. Last night, as I washed Zena, I really felt relaxed and free from stress. Now I am in the office again.... and I think to myself.... wow... 20 more years of this. YEARS. ugh.

So on to topic, last night, drove Zena to the lake to meet with a few folks. Then drove her back, then washed her. So nice to enjoy the Z's curves like that. I didn't drive her today, because I didn't get to wax her. Tonight I'll probably glaze her with EZ creme, then Supernatural... or maybe Jesteal first........ hmmmmmmmmmmm. Need to get her ready for a cars and coffee meet tomorrow.

I have the same mind numbing, nut squashing day planned myself... Same circus, different clowns!

Yes, it's great at hiding reflections and making colors more vivid. I had to order my filter online because my lens requires an odd filter size (72mm). You screw it onto the end of your lens and you turn the filter to adjust the polarization.

A good example

Shooting through or over top of water is an ideal situation to use a cpl...

yah, i didnt know (still dont know :icon17: ) how to use circular polarizer correctly but when i look at the sky and the windows get saturated and back off just tad, it gives it a nice realistic effect. the first rounds i did before these picts i emphasized the polarization too much and it looked like my windshield fell off somewhere. :D hahaha.

hey G2Z thanks for the compliments. im starting to get a tad more comfortable with the camera but this is only just the beginning. yah, thanks for noticing the new avatar with my reflection in the emblem.

i got my circular polarizer from B&H (B&H Photo Video Digital Cameras, Photography, Camcorders). i got both the TEFFEN and B+W. the B+W is a dust magnet but it does very well. from what i can see there is less distortion on the B+W one vs the TEFFEN one. :)

i bought some duster/smuge cleaner pens as well from B&H the other day. works great! wife said it looked like a brush for her makeup. :icon17:

Yeah I didn't notice the Asian Invasian in the reflection of your emblem. Looks like me :D hehe

Yeah I have the same brush too... I use it to clean the lens. Works wonders. Remember for smudges, inside out, in circular motions.

As for the CPL, once it's on there, it's on there, right? or do you have to turn it on before use???

When it's on the lens, it's already doing it's job. To "turn it off", remove the filter.

Maybe we should start a new thread...

What did you do with your DSLR today?
