I actually got around to my stainless steel brake line installation (thanks to my sons for great help). Sorry for the surface rust on the rotor -- I washed the car first (I think I did these in the wrong order). Oh well.

I also cleaned and lightly reoiled the K&N's from my Stillen intake.

I thought about washing my car and scrubbing all of the bugs off.

As soon as I gathered all of my cleaning supplies, it started to rain.

Oh well.

drove it, then cursed a shitstorm once i pulled over.

was driving, heard an odd clanking, slowed down, saw a huge rock fly past my window, pulled over and saw this:
http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/8...0611190849.jpg

apparently, i drove over a rock of some sort, it got lodged in between the wheel and the brakes. somehow it got caught in the wheel, scraped up the entire inside of the wheel, dented a few parts of it, and scratched it to hell. oh, and this demon rock somehow chipped off a ton of paint on the caliper. this rock also f-d up the rotor!

sigh......i dont know what to do

Dzel 06-13-2011 12:28 AM

Damn man that sucks, I hope you get it taken care of Maybe powder coat all four calipers?

was thinking about it, sigh...why couldnt this happen while it was rainy? turned my happy, perfect weather drive into a nightmare. new wheel? powdercoated calipers? that was one expensive drive! anyone know if this would be considered a comprehensive claim? i have state farm if that matters

Got a ticket for tint, and no front plate, while going the posted speed limit.

Thinking of pulling all tint, and doing a motorized show and go front plate...

not sure, i hate not having tint... but it isn't worth the hassle... anymore.

He saw me with my windows up ... conversation that took place...

usual mubo jumbo:
Officer - "Do you know where your front plate is?"
Me - "It's not there..."
Officer - "Can you turn on your car and roll you window up part way?"
Me - "Eh.. its out of regs.."
Officer - "Is your license suspended or anything?"
Me - "No, but my new address is on the back, has also been updated with dmv..."

he left went to do his thing

Comes back
Officer - "you know what to do with this right?"
Me - "Um...not really...What are you ticketing me for?"
Officer - "tint, plate..."
Me - "Okay what court house do i have to go to? and what needs to be done, judge or fix it ticket?" (just making him waste more time while real speeders go by you can see in his face the annoyance he was gaining...)
blah blah blah...

Me - "Thank you officer"
Officer -"murmurmur...idk"

Me to my GF:
"**** now i have to start the car again, i hope to not get another for exhaust...."

all to drop some damn redbox movies back off .... it was bound to happend sooner or later.

Chops - use insurance to get a new caliper, rotor, and wheel. I would not want to be driving on a damaged wheel. :(

Dzel 06-13-2011 02:24 AM

Is the wheel really damaged to where its not safe to drive on or jsut blemished?

Sorry to hear that bro. Not sure how strict all of Cali is, but if all cops there are like that, might be worth removing tint. Isn't the ticket for that much more expensive than no front plate? I'll never run plates.... if I get pulled over twice a year or even 3 for no front plate, I'll live with that. No holes no plate FTW.
