I hear you, getting a digital camera was the best investments I've ever made. as soon as you get 1 then you get to use it you realize how in the world did you ever live without it.

Yeah, I only have a couple of years on you. Can't imagine how you have dodged the bullet this long.

Geeez, at least he didn't mention the "M" word. I think there are more Mustang threadjacks than Photography threadjacks.

I shoot a D3. My wife and I have a photography business on the side.

I didn't get a chance to try one out since ive not had time, but I just placed an order for the D3100 with some filter kit that comes with a uv filter, circular polarizer and ND filter was it(?) by tiffen ... Along with a 16GB class10 SD and a case by some maker I didn't know. All had good reviews so I trust they are solid. Lol. should have them in my hands Fri or Sat.

Nice! perfect for the new member of the family.

I'm going to play with the D3100 for a few yrs to get some experience and then get a nice camera if I can prove to myself I'm worthy.

I have to vent... I went to pick up my car from the shop on Thursday so I could take it to Orlando for a photoshoot with a well known company this past weekend. I was told on Wednesday that I could pick it up. I arrived Thursday afternoon and my right rear tire was flat with 2 nails in it.

To make a long story short, I went to pick up the car today after being told the tire would be patched on Monday... STILL a flat tire! That's 80 miles of driving and a planned photoshoot wasted.

That sux. Or should I say they sux. I'd be sure to tell everybody in your area what happened. They should have fixed the tire on Thurs. or sent it to a tire shop to fix it. It would only take a few minutes for a tire shop to fix it. I would think the shop would take a little initiative and get it fixed before you showed up the first time.

Yah, unless the shop doesn't have tire mounting equipment that sounds pretty lame.
Althought I would never trust dismount/mounting tires anywhere local other than a few places near me.

@Ken- I think that is a perfect starter DSLR. You will have a lot of fun with it. Some of my favorite shots that I have ever taken were with my D50.

@Intrigue- Sorry about your issues. Some of my biggest headaches have surrounded tire mounting... even on my TwinTurbo when I put the 18s on it.

@Fire- I try not to be too biased. I love the images that Canon DSLRs produce and they have awesome glass. I just find that the menus and controls on the Nikon are easier for a new shutterbug to pick up on. More intuitive if you will.

Well here is the update part. I got up this morning and installed my front spacers. The car is at the final stance with the exception of rear camber adjustment. That will probably happen next week with the installation of new rear tires. Hmmm, somehow the fronts look new and the rears are toast. Guess I neet to keep the VDC on more often.

Here are a couple of quick shots...

thanks, beach. im looking forward to learning photography.

wow, your car looks fantastic! nice job on the spacer install.
i think your rear camber looks okay, what is the reading on it right now? around -2.6 range? ive been burning through rear tires at 2x the pace of the fronts so i think you're doing it 'right' (?).

Mr. Kenchan,

It is nice to see that you took the leap and went with a DSLR. I thought about it for more than a year before I made the decision last month.

I have 35 or so years’ experience shooting film and it was hard to let go. I am even thinking about potentially selling my darkroom equipment now. I made the mistake of mentioning this to my wife and now she is making plans for my darkroom.

I went with a Canon 7D and it makes me feel like an idiot. In fact, I am shooting with it in a very rudimentary way and am hoping to graduate to usiing it more to its potential. One thing that helps is that I bought a "Dummies" book and I am studying it so we'll see how it goes.
