hey Happy... no, I did not use a tripod for those shots. I do sometimes, but mostly when I take night shots. I want to try to take HDR photos... where I take photos at EV -2, 0, and +2 then blend them all. But to answer your question, the Nikon D60 I got did come with the VR lens, which has a built in stabilizer I believe. The camera just rocks...I stand by my statement that it ain't me with the skills... it's the camera. I just make sure I have nice angles and lighting. I am sure you can get the same results with a Canon EOS too. But I am just a fan of Nikon.

You know what the SAD part is? I've had the camera for almost 2 years, and never really started shooting in RAW mode till recently. I don't know WHY I waited this long to shoot it that way. The difference in pic clarity/quality/and *pop* compared to Jpegs is NIGHT and DAY. I will only shoot in jpeg mode in those instances where I don't really care about the shots ;) The best part about the digital age, Data is essentially free. No wasting of film.... SHOOT AWAY!!! :tiphat:

LOL Ken.... I wish I could take all the credit, but I'm no expert, nor do I claim to be.... it's all the camera. You can buy a nice point and shoot for what, 250? You can get into a DSLR for like 350 - 450 or so? Even in full auto mode, the DSLR shoots wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better pics than the point and shoot. First time I loaded the pics on my PC in RAW mode, I thought to myself, "Damn... I take THAT good a shot?!?!?!"

So yeah, it's not a secret camera ;) just go out and buy ANY dslr camera... amazing stuff. I have so much fun shooting pics now. I want a new lens with a diff't range. Maybe for father's day?

Alchemy, I ALMOST got the D90... but alas too much dough for me :( I'm glad you love yours too. Night and day results compared to point and shoot for you too? Friend of mine has the D7000.... :icon18: LOVE that thing too.

Sorry offtopic...:icon14:

Ken... I use a Nikon D60. It was a step above the D40. It had some features the D40 didn't have, so I sprung for it. Comes with an 18-55mm lens, should work for 90% of your shots. Here's a review of the D60.

Sad part is that I think they stopped making it already, but I think some merchants still sell it. The replacement now is a D3000 I think.

D3000 from Nikon

Whichever you get, just get an 8gb (at least) sd card, then SHOOT AWAY!!!

thanks, G2Z! +rep

Oh my aching back !!!

As luck would have it, now that the weather has warmed up here in the Northeast, I hurt my back from lifting an amplifier and now am watching my Z sit in the garage. So for all of you out there over 50 or have back problems, here's my advice; DRIFT...DON'T LIFT! Have fun with your Zs, I'll be back in the saddle soon! :tiphat:

not fully decided yet... :D probably either the TWM or the PWJDM.

the issue is not really in my Z cause i only take her out on weekends, but in my G which has a metal TWM knob right now.. it gets SUPERHOT while parked at the office in the sun so i want to use my Z's knob on the G and get a new knob for the Z. (i distroyed my G's knob while removing it back like 6yrs ago. :ugh2: )

ordered up a roll of Xpel protector 7ft x 4" wide to do the side of the car. :) i found some minor kickup chips on the very bottom 3" of the car from when i was running 20mm spacers up front on stock 19's.

i measued 6ft each side and didnt feel like paying $190 for the pre-cut side pieces from autopaintguard.com so got the generic roll for less than $50 shipped. :p will trim to shape and squeegee on.
