In MA after market exhaust is perfectly legal in of itself. However they passed a new law last year that states that any installed exhaust can not be louder than stock. Ah ... who exactly has this information and who did they give it to? I know a guy that was failed on their annual safety inspection because the inspector said the car was too loud ... yet the car was stock.

Stock quiet on a Toyota Camry is a bit different than stock quiet on a Z06 Corvette.

Because many Harley owners do the flag-waving thing here in the USA. So they are loud, but "patriotic". A lot of cops ride Harleys as well on off days. And those that don't are afraid of the Harley riders.

Harleys w/open pipes = worst sounding vehicles on the road
