Putting the Vette performance aside, would someone please redesign that old style wedge? It's basically been the same shape and styled car since the 80's. Tradition is one thing, but something totally new could work. It's not "ugly" in my opinion, but I just look at it and think old and "look at me, I own a Vette" calling card. Plus as said earlier, this car is every f'nwhere. Never been a fan of a car you park and see 3 or more in eyes view.

I think the 370Z was my first sports car I was all around impressed with.(Sides a MKIV Supra 2JZ with a fat T51R Three distinct reasons that all must sum up to an all around complete package. Performance vs exterior styling vs interior styling. Long have I loved the exterior of a car just to find POOR interior design. This was always a deal breaker for me. The Gallardo, the Viper GTS, the Vette. Poor interior design. Yes, some more function than for style, but for that price....

I'm a prior 350 owner and that was the only thing that killed that car for me. The interior was better than most, but once you saw those spy shots of the 370Z interior back in 08..... the glitter in my eyes died. I had to have one.

and now I do

My only problem with Vette's are all the old guys that drive them. People would think you were driving your dads car assuming you are under 35. I'd take a ZR1 in heartbeat though. That car is mean.

You will see older men drving them cuz they couldnt afford them when they were young or cuz of family. They sacrificed their nice car for practicallity and family till the kids were gone and then they got their car. Not everyone gets nice cars when they are younger and in todays generation you see more young kids driving cars that a generation ago couldnt afford at that same age for what ever reason. I think some 9not all) in here will see that when you have a family things change very quickly and you might have to wait till the kids on on their own before you can get the toys again.

The Vette is not a muscle car. It is a sports car.

It is also pretty damn reliable. It also gets better MPG. :V

I have the latest April Auto Issue of CR at home. I already know 'bout that. The great thing 'bout CR is that their feedback comes directly from vehicle owners, and not a biased opinion by a magazine staffer. Nuff said!

My C6 got better mileage than the Z. 27 on the highway and 20 around town. Thats about 1 better than the Z on both counts.

Vettes get outrageously good mileage for the performance.

I like my drive to be performance-oriented, I care far less about how it looks or how "exclusive" it is. Want exclusive? Buy and Edsel!

What impressed me most about the 370Z, compared to the Corvette I also test-drove, was its composure on pot-holed and frost-heaved New England roads. These roads are winding, with blind corners, "thank-you-mum" whoop-dee-doo bumps and decreasing radius turns. This is what I drive on every day.

The Z could fly down these roads, whereas the Corvette creaked, groaned, and wiggled. After 10 years of driving each one daily on these roads, I think the Z will still be together, but the Corvette would be decomposed into disparate parts, flying off at random. Both of them felt a little more ponderous than I'd like (especially on corners that are 1-lane wide and blind). But the Z was a clear winner for me, so I bought it!

Really late to the party on this thread.

As noted in my introduction of 3/29/10, I owned an 05 C6 Z51, an 07 Z06, and an 09 Z06, the last car being traded in a a 40th anniversary Z.

Quality wise, I had no problems with all 3 vettes. Yes, there was a roof recall, and a TSB about some rear end noise when making a tight turn at low speed (cured by some extra fluid), but overall, my vettes were pretty solid.

The Z06s were stupid fast, but as somebody noted, really overkill for the street. Warp speed happens in the blink of an eye and you really have to drive the car. The Z06 (and ZR1) capabilities exceed the abilities of a lot of drivers, including probably me. But still, I have to laugh when I punch the throttle in second gear of the Z; in the Z06, all hell breaks loose and you hold on for dear life.

The 370Z is a lot more forgiving, speed happens much more slowly. Not as demanding as the Z06. But I can still go just as hard in my favorite corners so all in all, the Z is just about as much fun and looks stunning. Better interior too.

Bu what I really miss about the Z06 was the "king of the hill" feeling I had while driving it. While I didn't, ahem, street race, I knew that there was a pretty short list of cars (stock) that would beat a Z06. I felt that the Z06 got a lot of respect from other drivers and very few wanted to "play".

So I see myself in a C7 Z whatever or a GTR in in the next few years. I actually tried to buy a GTR before my 09 Z, but at the time, no discounting was happening and I wasn't gonna pay msrp when the Z06 was heavily discounted.
