Thanks, kenchan. I was wondering what would be a good fitting car seat for the Z, looks like I'll be getting one of those as well!

I had to bump this one.

I've actually been looking into this more as its coming down to a "might have to sell the Z situation"

I still need to verify with the local cops here but I think its do able in the front seat.

Situation:

The wife is runinng the show at her company now, so I've been on pick up and drop off duty for daycare more. This means me driving the Z less which is dissapointing. It already sits for over 4 months during the winter.

My Issue:

I hate not driving the Z, I'm not a guy that can let it sit for 2 weeks and just look at it. Its not paid off so I'm sure that money could be better used.

We do have 3 cars. Wife has a nice X5 but my second car is a 2000 Subaru Forester. Its manual and fun but its still depressing to go from the Z to driving that more often.

Also I know I could probably still get 30K locally for the Z and I have less than 19K left on it so I'd make 11K and for sure another 5-7K back for mods that I'd bother take off. So $$ is a bit of a motivator.

Outside of the above, I'd keep it under all circumstances.

Am I crazy for wanting to put his baby seat in front?
am I being a baby about driving the Subaru if it allows me to keep the Z?

Lastly, what the heck would I replace it with. I want something manual and fun.

- 2010 BMW 5 series wagon could be cool (also rare to find)
- 2010 AUDI S5. Small back seat but hey, its a back seat
- 2006 Porsche Carerra 4S. started falling in love with these (and yes, back seat is a loose term)
- 2012 Imprezza WRX Sti - only drawback is the cheap interior and that they are everywhere and lack the uniquness ofthe Z.

You would be crazy to think that, but its all about perspective. It only takes 1 accident to make you regret putting the child in the front seat. And yes, if you have a 2nd car that you can use in the meantime (which only seems to be temporary and in short bursts) you are being a baby about it.

If you are like me in terms of loving the Z, you will regret selling it and getting yourself into something else (altho if the Porsche or audi is an option... maybe the loathing period would be short lived)...

But in closing, keep the z, drive the suburu..maybe do something to it that would make it more fun? There will be plenty of time to drive your Z.

And if it is any consolation.. I drive a work van most times..and I ALWAYS see hot girls in sport cars when driving that pos...but when I am in the Z..its a ghost town in regards to testosterone/hormone flaunting.

This is as close as I could find to an answer........From Idaho.

All I can say is the whole time my kids lived with me THEY WERE MY PRIORITY! Now they are gone and I can do what I want. You have to make sacafices for your kids. Everyone knows whats right but they don't want to do it. Just do it and when they kids are gone have fun!

Keep the z.... You will not get 30k for it. Also keep the Subaru. I drive a Honda Civic most of the time and it Sucks but makes it that much more fun when I get to drive the Z.

Kids wont be little forever...keep the Z and drive it when you can until then.

BTW, my 11 year old rarely rides w her dad if I'm driving the Z and she uses a booster seat.
She likes my Z almost as much as me

The Z is equipped to handle a child safety seat, not a rear facing seat though. The decision to use it is your choice.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Much appreciated.

At the end of the day the Subaru Forester isn't horrible, it is manual and has headers and exhaust. I just know If I want to make it even more unique...I'll be spending $$

I used to always want to keep it and maintain it till my boy could drive it

I got decisions to make. I think I will post it just to see if my asking price is met, then I got some real thinking to do lol.

End of the day, I have never had a car like the Z that evokes so much emotion out of people.

Last summer I was invited into a car club, which was mainly high end rides. ZR1's, c63AMG, R8's, GTR's but they wanted me in too...not many cars in the 30K range would get that.

I would miss it. Love my Z

[QUOTE=AK370Z;532436]NO. 370z is a 2 seat sport coupe. Have you looked into G37? They have back seats

If child seats can't be used in the 370Z, then why does the air bag get disabled with only X amount of weight in the passenger seat. In addition, why is there a child seat anchor in the cargo compartment behind the seat?

I think the distinction is: just because you can doesn’t mean you should. I’m finding myself back on these forums looking this up, expecting in June 2023, and crazy to remember lots of familiar user names in here like Mr. kenchan! Leaning towards selling, but the hot used car market is over now ;( Carvana offers $6,000 on my 2010 sport package 6MT. 109k miles now.
Take care all
