18.9 on avg, mix of spirited and normal driving highway and streets I just love getting on it in any car for that matter when getting on the freeway.

Hmm. I don't know what I get overall - it varies about 17-18 city and 24-25 highway. I can improve the city number by adjusting the way I drive, but that's no fun. ;)

Just took a 1400 mile road trip... crusing @ 80mph, 25.8mpg!
Not bad!! |
I have a 40 mile one way commute 95% freeway so I am usually 25-27 range.
My 370z really likes when its hotter out. The other day I had to go into work early for a meeting at 6 PM (I work nights) and it was like 86-87F out. Even with the A/C running and running into more traffic than usual I hit 29 MPG just before I started hitting some major traffic right when I got into LA (35 miles into my commute) I took this picture after 20-30 sec in the traffic and it went down a bit: http://box.houkouonchi.jp//IMG_0034-small.JPG Interesting that the optimal temperature (for mpg) in this car appears to be around 90F. Its pretty rare on my normal commute that I get that much higher than 28-28.5 and by the time I get to work/park it goes down to 25.x-27.x depending on the day. |

Too Funny! :icon18: |
I get 22-23 miles per gallon average city and highway
|
I'm at 21.4MPG according to the car
|
I average about 21. I did get 27 on a trip to Pittsburgh yesterday.
|
On the way to my parents' house 3 hours away, this is what I got:

I get right around 21mpg with mostly city driving with a few highway trips. I have calculated my mpg on a number of longer trips on the way to and from San Diego and if I stay under 70mph, I normally get around 27-28mpg. I don't try to hyper mile and my average has many a WOT runs too, plus a bunch of Socal canyon runs. :)

These are the poll choices I dislike. My milage is 11.75 - 13.5. Usually 12 point something. So I chose 10-12. Perhaps I should have chosen 13-15. Yes mine is a 6MT/7AT.

~23 combined 19 city 28+ highway going about 80. I've taken it easy now. The real-time MPG meter helped in determining how much throttle leads to what MPG. Also, I trust my MPG calculator. I check mileage when I fill up and the computer is spot on. |
That is a nice little app. I have been using an app called MPG from back in the days of the Newton Messagepad (yes, some of you may need to look that one up, it was the first real PDA :P). MPG does maintenance and other things as well, so I would suggest checking that app as well.
My phone is almost always with me, so its easy to record. I have history on all my cars going back 10+ years. So far, I only have 3K on our 2010 ZR 6M that we picked up in may with 2500 miles on the clock. 20.9 Average (23/18 max/min split) Never have done a full tank on the HWY, but cruise with top down nets 25+. Top down motoring plus A/C will kill 1-2 MPG from drag but its worth it. - b |
I get about 23-25 mpg. I do alot of interstate driving with my top down. I think the gas milage is very good. Happy motoring :driving:
|
Not sure what a city only cycle would be, never done one! We did 3 long road trips and the computer said 27-28mpg average for highway.
|
I never keep track of the gas mileage on my "Z." I bought it for a sporty and fun car to drive. When ever it needs gas, I fill her up. I would notice if it was using excessive amounts of gas, but so far it seems normal for the way I drive.
|
Just took a trip from Austin to Dallas and tried to see the best mileage I could get. I was focusing the whole time on going really light on the gas and ended up with an average 31mpg at around 70mph for the 100% highway portion of the trip.
For normal Day to day driving I usually get 18-21mpg though. Stock base model 6MT I got longtube headers coming soon and eventually some intakes, really curious to see how those affect my mileage. |
can you ever reset these? or how do they work? l

I know this thread has been open for a while but just wanted to add my two cents. My mpg is 21.2 at 33 mph. I don't pay attention to the rpms when I shift, I pay attention to have fast I'm going. I shift from 1st to 2nd at 8mph, 2nd to 3rd at 16mph, 3rd to 4th at 25 mph, 4th to 5th at 28mph and 5th to 6th at 33mph. If I am ever going above 33 I'm always in 6th. Now that is about what I shift at. It works very well though. If you read your owners manual it gives you this very same info on page 5-19. It is the suggested up-shift sped for best fuel economy. And I do a lot of city driving with stop and go as I live in San Diego. Also my mpg used to be better but since I got my berk hfc and my berk exhaust my mpg has gone down to 21 as I love the sound my exhaust makes so I tend to really get on the gas more now then I did before. I hope this helps you out :)

I'm thinking you didn't need a Z unless you go to the track every weekend - a Miata would be just as fast with those shift points!
I get around 17 MPG with the 7AT when I shift manually (I'm only in 7 on the highway and rarely in 6) but it is better in A mode. OTOH, my normal drive is a ten mile commute with a 65 highway section for a mile and mostly 35 MPH city the rest of the way, with a few trips to lunch at 40 - 50 MPH during the week. |

In a smaller displacement car, assuming similar gearing, you won't be able to short shift nearly as much, and 6th gear < 40 MPH will lug a Miata, but not a Z. Both cars enjoy a good flogging : they are sports cars for a reason, and respond accordingly. You don't need either, you just want and enjoy them :D - b |

I'm still in break in on my 370Z and it's nice to know that I should expect an increase because I'm only getting around 24.5 city/freeway right now. Although that is acceptable for the performance bump from my 350Z to the 370Z. I'm expecting 30mpg plus. However, I squeeze the thottle during the work week and save the performance driving for the weekend. In my 2010 Prius I was getting 50.5mpg... I just couldn't handle driving a tin can for the next ???? years. I'd rather pay $100 more a month in gas than to drive that Prius day in day out. Maybe someday they'll make a Z car that performs and gets that type of mileage.... I'm down for that day and will trade my 370Z in on a second year model. ;-) |
95% city driving nets me 17mpg

During my brake in I received 18.9 as an overall average. I'm hoping for qa minimum of 20mpg's. That would be good performance for this amount of power. On my 09 I was getting 19.0.
|
23.0-23.5 for me
|
How do people get above 22 is beyond me...
|
This thread has me frustrated. I would have expected better mileage in a 332bhp V6 than with my 505hp V8. If I do decide to trade, I'm going to have to either prove you all wrong about how you a fail at hypermiling, or I am going to be very sad about that aspect of my purchase.
When I click my DIC in the Z06, it shows averages of 19-22mpg, with me seeing 26+mpg on the freeway for long drives, calculated manually. I should think the 370Z could easily break 30mpg if you are gentle with her and not going up a slight gradient. |
22-24 mpg 6MT when I am drafting.....19-21 mpg with my lead foot, which is most of the time.
