My old TT had the left quarter blended in after a key job, by a Glasurit trained Painter/shop. And this in a Pearl Blue color. You could not tell even if you knew where to look....Just lucky I guess based on your observations..

Looks great..I don't doubt they did a excellent job for...but its hard to tell the slight differences in finish from a picture.

Let me clarify..unless you have the exact same paint (not just color code) shot from the same gun n baked at the same temperture...its impossible to get a perfect match..manufactures bake the sheet metal at about twice the temp of bodyshops..

That "person" and that parking is unbelievable! Who could do that? Was she on drugs? Was she in her right mind? Man that is totally F***ed up!
I hope you get it fixed 100%.

we all know this and we are just saying that a billion cars a day get repainted and a few of us here have had our Z repainted already and are telling the OP it will all be good and he wont be able to tell. Even if it wasnt the exact same paint his car was shoot with in the beginning. The way you make it sound that any time a car has to be repainted you need to do the whole car, not so.

It was just a suggestion..from the looks of it at least three panels have been damaged including the quarter..this is a forum so I assumed that all opinions are welcome here..of course I wish the best outcome for the OP...especially since he has a sexy 40th!..and I disagree that evrybody knows this..

we all can get a bit OCD when it comes to expensive things. I just want the OP to know all will turn out ok.

wishihadnav 05-09-2010 06:40 PM

I'm sure all will turn out well..one other thing for the OP to watch out for would be the insurance company..they will try to settle this as cheaply as possible...the impact area is large but not severe...they might try to just pay for a repair of the sheet metal using fillers...make sure u find a shop that will replace the panels..the bodyshop might have to step up to the adjuster for you.

wishihadnav 05-09-2010 06:48 PM

Haha..one other thing for the OP..u can call ur ins com n initiate the claim..take it to any shop u want..your ins company will attemp to subrogate all expenses from the other party including rental, deductible,etc...

No, that is were his covered. His insurance company will declare the value of the repair and get the full amount. He doesn't have to deal with the other insurance company at all.

Correct..read my post above yours...however there can always be issues with coverage..the other partys ins. may not sufficiently cover the pd..ie 5k in pd...ins companies will attemp to subrogate the full amount but this does not happen all the time..I've run across claims were we could not retrieve the deductible..hopefully the OP has umpd to cover any possible lack of coverage from the other party..

Hey guys thanks for all the help. Im calling my insurance company first thing tomorrow and sending the pictures of my damaged car, the eyewitnesses account who saw the whole thing, and all of the other info they need. Since this is a 40th anniversary i will be demanding a brand new dirvers side panel, rear panel thats over the rear wheel, and a brand new bumper, as well as a new side mirror which is all scratched. THANKS TO YOU GUYS...i will also be demanding LOSE OF VALUE in resale too. I am going to call my dealership tomorrow and ask them who they use for body work. Hopefully they will have someone reputable. I will be a HUGE pain in the butt with all of this when it comes to the body work and painting. I am not getting this done the cheap way, i will be asking for references and sitting down with the body shop owner. I have had two previous cars painted and the good shops can get real close and while other shops completely have no idea. I am WORRIED since this is a 40th anniversary special paint color, so i will be putting much emphasis on this when its getting work done. Crossing my fingers for the dealership and insurance company to help me here--THANK YOU GUYS, I APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP!!!

FIY you can't get a new rear quarter panel over the rear wheel it's one piece. The other pieces are readily exchangeable hell I got a pair of extra skirts if you want them, they're red but you can repaint them. Hopefully there are no dings or dents in the rear quarter panel because those would have to be worked out.

wishihadnav 05-09-2010 08:18 PM

Nissan doesn't sell quarter panels?...hopefully they do as well as the door skins...some companies will only sell entire shells which is complete BS...it'll be extremly difficult to convince the ins co to pay for a whole shell instead of a skin.

NYBladeZ 05-09-2010 08:25 PM

I've had the opportunity to take apart my Z and look at it pretty closely. The rear quarter panel is not an individual piece. It can only be replaced by some serious cutting. Concerning the door, I guess you could only buy the skin but when I took my door apart it seems really well put together, I don't think you could get the same sort of "build quality" changing just the skin, you're probably going to need a new door, lol OP get in touch with me if you need some oem replacement parts ie. door and skirts.
