Vibrating/Buzzing Driving Me Crazy! Help Me find It!

check the plastic trim covers around the inside of the rear windscreen, I had to put some heavy duty double sided tape behind the plastic trim now no more rattle

I've been dealing with this forever myself, the dealer acted like there was nothing there

even though I recreated it by tapping the windshield...I have a feeling it's coming from under those plastic trim covers too...how did you get those off? I haven't tried but any direction will help, don't wanna risk breaking it.

Open the hatch and usually the offending panel will be the one closest to the roof. So what you do is have a look at the join in the panels and you will see it has tabs that lock into the plastic trim next to it. So all you do is push the panel so the tabs come out of the other trim piece and then pull it away from the roof its got locking clips all the way along but they pull out very easily. You will see what I mean as you take the trim off. Then basically have a look at where the trim can touch any part of the car that would make it rattle and put double sided tape behind. Then reattach the panel and you should have a rattle free car

Just want to add that I had a horrible rattling / buzzing sound at idle and driving in reverse. I popped the hood and it was my G3 Stillen Intakes buzzing up against some metal. So I addressed it and problem solved. It was much more noticable after my FI CBE exhaust was installed since it vibrated the car more.

Just saying... check under the hood as well, you never know.

FAIL.
Well, I worked on the area shown in schrute's photo album this morning, placing foam and duct tape along any wires under the headliner and running down by the side window, and I still have the rattles and buzzing.
I can't tell if it's just my frustration, but I think I may have made it worse.

This is really, really aggravating!

Maybe tomorrow I'll go get some double-sided tape and foam and look at the area by the brace and the plastic panels on the hatch itself.
If I don't find it, I'm gonna go nuts!

This noise doesn't seem to be coming from the headliner Lunaz...i'm pretty sure it's the plastic molding around the hatch glass as Joe stated...I haven't had time to take mine apart yet but will soon

Where are you guys putting the double sided tape?
I took the hatch plastic apart today and it seems like it's only a thin edge of plastic contacting the metal of the hatch. I insulated and taped down the wires for the rear defroster hoping that was it, but fail again.

Pictures would really help!

I have a Chicane Yellow 2009 370Z, and I just wanted to add one rattle that my dealer fixed. I had a metal on metal rattle noise coming from behind the passenger seat above 25 mph. I tried to locate the origen of the noise myself with no luck.

I took it to my dealer and they kept it for a several days. They found that the rattling noise was coming from the passenger seat-belt assembly. It was replaced and the rattle is fixed. I am so thankful. Nothing drives me more nuts than a $40,000 rattle trap. I do love this car.

I took the plastic covers off today too, I wrapped electric tape around the plastic clips on the cover and put double sided tape all over the place. I took pics and will post if I don't hear anything tomorrow morning when it's usually at its loudest.

SOB, the buzzing noise is still coming when I tap the windshield with two fingers from the driver's seat. I opened the hatch and tapped at the glass but couldn't hear it, I didn't hear it while driving either but it looks like it's still there because I can still replicate it...

I feel like driving my car through the Nissan dealership...I took it into them, the guy told me he hears it when i tap the windshield, 6 hours later they call me, I go in and the guy has my trunk floor board out and he's like "the tire screw was loose so we tightened it, the jack was a little loose...take it for a test drive and see how it is" I was so angry at these people for COMPLETELY disregarding what I had said and SHOWED them I just took my car and drove off still able to replicate the noise by just tapping the windshield with my two fingers...F'ING RETARDED GLENDALE NISSAN!!!!

I may have cured my rattles.
The rattle started up driving down a road that caused a little bit of vibration. The wife pushed on the headliner where the clips hold it to the roof and the rattle stopped. All I did was apply a square of duct tape (with a slit in it for the clip to protrude through) over each of the clips that hold the headliner up, and put everything back together.
A test drive produced the faintest of a split second rattle over heavy bumps, but the constant vibrating noise was gone.
I'll know for sure after today's run down to DC.

After four visits under the headliner, I finally cured my rattling, vibrating noises.
Through this process, I got really fast at disassembling the interior of my car, but I hope to not need this skill in the future.

What I found to be rattling and vibrating was above me, at about 5:00 relative to my position in the driver's seat. I could make the vibrating stop by pressing up on the headliner, so I knew that this was where I needed to look.

On a previous visit under the headliner, I had secured the clips that hold the headliner up by adding double-sided foam tape to the tab that protrudes from the clip, sandwiching the tab so that the clip couldn't move in its holder. I also put duct tape over the clip to isolate it from the metal of the body.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the source of the rattle.

I also duct taped down the wire that is visible when you pull the headliner down.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the culprit either.

Having pinpointed where the noises were coming from, I slid my hand further under the headliner towards the front of the car where the inside of the roof curves upward. Just ahead of this curve, I found another wiring bundle coming out of the satellite/navigation antenna. I wedged foam insulation under this plastic covered wiring bundle and taped it securely to prevent movement.
I can't show you a picture of this because there is no way to get the camera in there. Just slide your hand in there and you'll find it just to the right of the antenna!
While I was under the headliner (again), I re-insulated the wire closer to the hatch, securing the plastic clips with double-sided foam tape, wedging foam insulation between the wire and the metal roof, and duct taping the whole thing down.

I can proudly say that my car no longer rattles over bumps, no longer vibrates to the beat like a $500 hooptie with a $5000 stereo, and most importantly, I can drive down the road without constantly looking up at the headliner.
