What!!!! No ashtray

Not that im a smoker but I want a place to put my change rather than putting it in the center counsole or in the cup holder. Actually, im very surprise that it doesnt have one just because smokers are going to smoke and if they dont have a place to put there "butts" they would toss them out the window and potentially start a fire and/or litter. Does anybody know why they didnt come equiped with one?......just curious

Just about all car companies charge you extra for ashtrays.

It’s a place to put change

PapoZalsa 03-24-2010 06:45 PM

I think all the car got away with the ashtrays. My old lady 07 RAV4 doesn't have one. The 350Z didn't have one either that I recall

Lemers 03-24-2010 06:52 PM

There isn't one in my wife's 07 explorer. Why put an ashtray in it's all but lillegal to smoke?

Red370 03-24-2010 06:54 PM

I think its just the car companies' contribution to a healthier America! woo!

Red370 03-24-2010 06:55 PM

btw yeah, that ashtray is sweet, also doubles as a coffee mug!

fullmonty 03-24-2010 06:56 PM

I smoke, but not in my car. Never the less it upsets me when a car doesn't have an ash tray or lighter. Even though I don't use the car lighters. I just like there being one. Old fashioned I guess.

Not if you know you need one before signing on the bottom line. Make them throw it in for free in order to make a deal. But why stop there? Some touch-up paint... extra set of keys... always a good idea to get as many "little things" you can from the dealer before taking delivery of the car. :)

Same here. Stopped smoking in my cars with the last new car I bought --07 Mazda 3 ... it did have an ashtray though. Now I am 10 minutes later to everywhere I go -- 5 minutes for a smoke before I leave -- 5 minutes for a smoke after I get there.... :)

I put a foam can coozy(?) in my driver door cupholder. Holds plenty of change without scratching the panel.

Same here, except I just plan for that extra 10 minutes ahead of time. If that smoke is going to make me late, I drive the beater instead, because I still smoke in that.

For my change, I use a small zippered coin purse a local merchant gave out to circulate his name and phone number that are printed on the side Helps that he's also a client of mine). In any event, I keep it in the empty Nav compartment of my Nav-less Z, along with my cell phone, tic-tacs, etc. It works fine and keeps the change from jangling and rattling around during driving. I'm sure you can buy one in whatever passes as today's 5 and 10 cent store!

That works too! I am hoping to at least get some illuminated kick plates... or at least some basic clear bra installed. It all depends on how badly this sales guy wants to sell two cars in the same deal. My folks and I are going in together, thanks to Mr. Nash and the VPP.

If he won't budge much on extras, there is always the door! ;)

KillerBee370 03-25-2010 12:05 AM

Smoking is disgusting and will kill you. What really amazes me in this day and age is not that vehicles no longer come with cancer pits but that people actually still smoke.

Really?

i hope no one other then my retard store manager who drives a 350z smokes in there car

Chriz 03-25-2010 02:38 AM

Haha i guess Nissan doesn't want people to smoke in the Z. I noticed that most if not all Honda's do not come with ashtrays either. I'm guessing its just a change of trend in automobiles considering my friends '72 Coupe de Ville came with a ashtray per person.:icon14:

Vegitto-kun 03-25-2010 06:02 AM

I don't really mind. no ashtray = butt out of the window but most of the time I have a empty pack on me where I put my butts in

MightyBobo 03-25-2010 06:27 AM

Almost every new car has no built-in ashtray anymore - you pay (slightly) extra for it.

Which is awesome because:
1) Smoking is disgusting
2) Its a waste of space when you could have a cupholder or...something
3) Smoking is disgusting

I had to stop my guitarist twice in my Z, by hearing the lighter click...and he managed to start a cigarette in my Frontier and blow out one drag. I rolled down the windows and told him to toss the cigarette. I damn near told him to get out and walk.

*******.

He doesn't ride with me any more. Could not care less, and laughed about it.

If he, his wife and his daughter would quit for a week, they'd be amazed at how bad their house smells of wet dog (they have *5* large dogs), dog piss, and dog ****, mixed with about 20x the average bar level of cigarette smoke...

<sigh>

Actually, I think more people die from smoking than drinking. In fact, I'm pretty damn certain that more people due from smoking than drinking.

Chupacabra 03-25-2010 08:13 AM

yeah your probably right, but I am trying to make the smokers feel a little better.

in the year 2000..

438k died from smoking ( a little exaggerated if you ask me)
76k from alcohol

My mother is the same way with smoking - she HAS to have it. I told her to get it done before we go for a ride (this is in an old car, before I had a respectable DD). She always uses the same line..."well, I'll drop the window a bit...". Yeah, because that totally helps...

BTW, as far as animals, I know someone with 12 ferrets....and holy ****, that house stinks SO bad. Nothing is worse than going to their place to find ferret **** all over the floor because they let them all out to play...

NISSNISS370Z 03-25-2010 08:36 AM

and...speaking of animals, it's not cool littering because birds and other critters eat the cigarette butts

How many died from heart attacks due to alcohol. How many from car accidents, either self-inflicted death or killing someone else? Your numbers are incomplete.

How many died from lung cancer, heart disease, emphazima (sp?), complications with other breathing disorders, and so on. Not to mention those who will get those conditions and eventually die from 2nd hand.

Or lost pregancies and brain damaged children...

Matt 03-25-2010 08:59 AM

All this from someone asking where the ashtray is? Yikes!

370Zsteve 03-25-2010 09:18 AM

Serious business being discussed here, Matt. Got sidetracked by a Camel.
