You think the Z would follow that line? I would think that would kill it.

Car companies have to make more fuel effient cars to keep up with the new standards. Smaller engines that produce more power with DI and turbos are the future. I don't see Nissan introducing a V8 to a car that traditionally had a V6.

and what about the gt-r? does anyone really believe nissan will give the z a v8 engine while their flagship supercar is only a v6?

The M was already offering a V8. Its just not going to be added to the Z

A V8 would be nice for the next Z.

The one thing I dont like is the body if they go with the pic in the link.

You can expect the next-gen Z a few years from now, with a direct-injection NA V6.

I would see the GT-R going 4.0 TT and the Z getting a 3.8 or 3.9 with DI and all those goodies. I am sure Nissan could easily push out a 400hp (flywheel) 3.9 V6 engine after the 370z.
What will Nissan really do? Who knows, they might jump ship and do what BMW did and jump to a V8, but I almost feel like if they do they will also do what BMW did. They bloated out the M3, and while it still is quick, faster, etc. it is not the same car it once was.

my prediction, with the new looming fuel economy standards is that the next Z will be a 240Z. 2.4 direct injection turbo, 300 hp. Thats just a guess, but I can see it happening.

I see either this, or a smaller V6 combined with electric motors, to get the fuel economy there and retain performance.

I don't think they will change the 3.7 Engine for a good time period. Probably they will increase power, efficiency, internals of that particular engine, but I don't see a bigger engine on a Z.

I know they will have to push out some more HP either NA or FI. And Im sure they will do DI and maybe they would be nice and do a magnetic ride too. And of course use that new technology in noise dampering.

nissan would be foolish to try and pump out another Z with a new engine. it actually hurts buyer loyalty if a company keeps changing the specs ever couple years. also with the big push to get away from using gas. tghis is pretty much the big last stand for high performance gasoline engines. nissan.lexus, ford,gm,dodge, merc, bmw ect all are using the majority of there resources in future electric/fuel cell cars. if nissan was smart they wouldnt worry to much about trying to pump out a bigger badder Z and just take a backseat for a couple years let the big boys duke out and them spend there time coming out as the top dog in the future cars.

I dont think this is true, they may put out less V8s then before but 4 and 6 turbos and SCs are about tripple then they were a few years ago. Thats whats so good about a 4 or 5 or 6 cyl turbo, good power and good gas mileage. 4 cyl with small turbos with a chip can make 300 hp and 300 tq and still get 27 mpg avg. I got 32 mppg highway on my 4 cyl turbo and had about 260 hp and 300 tq. All the companies are doing this now.

I am in for the long haul with my Z34, The bro and myself have upgraded from an 05 and 06 to two 09's so I am strapped to these for awhile. DI or similar 240Z size engine with DI in the future, they can have it cuz my money is staying in my pocket for at least another 7 years. Except for some Stillen mods.
