Thanks again for doing this Robert.

I got a quote from a dealer who said it would be $38.1-$38.7k with the VPP # for:

370z Touring - Manual + Sports + Navigation

When I look on Edmunds it looks like invoice for this setup is about $37.1k. Is my dealer just being shady?

I really don't know and frankly, it isn't my place to say.

However, with the VPP you'll KNOW what you are paying and why...you'll have all the figures in front of you and should be able to know exactly how everything was computed.

I humbly apologize but I just learned that I've been giving out some bad info; specifically, to take advantage of this promotion the VPP claim number must be used (the vehicle sale must take place) on or before March 31st. I was operating under the belief that the numbers would be "good" for the usual 90 days from date of issue but that is NOT the case.

I know that is going to throw a wrench into the plans of some of you who have already contacted me an planning on getting a number before the promotion ended but using in April or May or June but I'm afraid the promotion isn't structured that way.

Again, I'm very sorry for the misinformation.

I took the liberty of calculating some things based on the links in this thread and the prices in our own thread here (if this crosses any lines please delete it).

Here is what I came up with for 2010 Coupes:

Based on this and let's assume you want Sport & Nav and pay MSRP for those options (which is the case for VPP I believe), I think you would be starting at a price of around $30,723 + $3,000 + $1,850 = $35,573. Even if you add in illuminated kick plates, carpets, splash guards, and Destination & Handling, you should still be under $37k so I think the numbers you were told seem high - but as Robert says, ask to see the paperwork and decide for yourself.

Man, I should run this on the Roadster - you must've gotten a great deal on that Robert. Do you know if a VPP Claim # is good until you actually cash it in or it expires? In other words, if I go into a dealer, choose a car, get the VPP details and decline that, is the VPP # still good for another dealer/car or is it gone?

Also, when you build your own on the Nissan USA site, they imply MT and AT are "incl" but when you choose one over the other the price changes. :icon17:

I gotta say, if it wasn't for Robert_Nash, i would not be driving my Z as soon as i had wished. I got a VPP from him last time, and I gotta say, THANK YOU yet again. Everyone, take advantage of this, it's worth it. Too bad this didnt occur about a month ago, could have used this for my dads Maxima, o well.

The easy part is getting VPP from Robert, the hard part is now finding the car I want and a competent dealer.

Does anyone have the exact wording for the A/B plan with all of the rules? Basically, I would like to know the exact formula so I can calculate all of the numbers myself before stepping into the dealership.

According to the VPP website, the D plan, for example, only allows you to apply the discount on the car itself but not on any options. Unfortunately, it doesn't show how the A/B calculations differ without logging in with a valid employee login account.

I do have a question for this VPP, what if I custom order one, which earliest arrival is 2 months from now. Can I close the sale before the March 31? or is it not a regular practice or even possible to make the sale before the car is built?

Someone should make an excel spread sheet that allows you to pre-calculate everything, depending on what model / options you want.

I thought that options installed from factory (ie splash guards,sport package) are included in the calculations. But if you ask the dealer to add it on, it is not. Can anyone confirm from past buying experiences?

The Plan A/B column shows your starting price with NO options yet (almost $4k off MSRP on the Touring model seems like a great deal to me considering you haven't even started to haggle yet on the options). I would think you can use this on any vehicle - as long as you close the sale by 3/31 it should be valid. The best thing to do is approach the dealer and look closely at all the paperwork they supply you with comparing it to the information you have in this thread.

I'll try working up a spreadsheet but your best bet is to go to www.truecar.com - great site for figuring out true cost and then you can take the numbers you find there to calculate your VPP savings.

Yes, I saw the table you created a few posts ago. When we bought my wife's altima a few years ago, this was the equation used to compute her out the door price.

* Dealer invoice
* Minus VPP discount (2.87%)
* Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, etc.
* Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted
* Plus destination and handling charge
* Plus marketing assessment as applicable
* Minus applicable incentives
* Equals paticipant's purchase price

It looks like the only difference to that equation with Robert's plan would be the increased discount of 4.3% rather than the 2.87%. If I remember correctly, they added the dealer added options at invoice pricing.

The -2.87% and +2.5% is called Plan D - lots of people are eligible for that depending on who you work for and if they have a partnership with Nissan. Robert is basically being given the best option of all and passing it on to his friends here. The Plan D seems to involve a 2.87% discount and then the dealer pays 5% so they split the 5% in half and you pay 2.5% and they pay 2.5%. What Robert is offering doesn't have that added 5% cost so it really is a great deal - instead of getting a few hundred below invoice (Plan D) you are getting over a thousand below invoice (Plan A/B) but you don't have to haggle to get there.
