With that said people will be pinching their wallets even tighter, and the Z customer probably for the most part doesn't have inelastic enough an income to accommodate a price increase of much more beyond where the Z is that present, and that's if you want to sell the car in decent numbers.
The economy has no bearing on cars like the 370Z because it isn't a car for the masses. True, it's an affordable enough car for many people but it isn't a car that Nissan relies on for volume sales. It's not a four door family sedan that is marketed to move units like the Altima, Accord, Camry, etc... Nissan will have no problem raising the price because they're not trying to sell 500,000 370Z's a year.

Nissan isn't a premium brand but the 370Z is one of the more expensive cars they sale. You can end up getting into Infiniti territory configuring an altima or maxima depending on what options you add on. I'm looking to get a 2009 370Z automatic with all the bells and whistles and I'm expecting to spend around $40,000 and probably more if I opt for extended warranty, or any service plans like oil changes, etc...
