Not Planning to Track - Is Sports Package Worth It?

+1 I don't Track mine for now. But to experience the SyncroRev Technology plus extra handsome looks (the Z) is worth the extra bucks. hey but that is me.

I usually try and buy cars with options based on resale for buyers wanting to purchase cars with creature features. I will most likely never track my car. This SP option was a no brainer for a sports car in my mind. Someone might purchase it from me and want to track it someday.

I passed on the heated leather seats, Bose radio, blue tooth etc. for myself. I felt those things were not necessary for myself and the possible future buyer. A new car version of old school car that comes stripped except for performance features.

I plan on getting an automatic, so the only thing I'd be losing out (for me personally) are the rims.

Neighbor,

Shop around. I mean really shop around. I tried buying my car locally and gave up because of dealerships final sales price being offered. We had some free airline tickets so we burned one to Chicago. Got my 2011 w SP for 30904out the door. Also, If you decide on a factory extended warranty try online with Nissan of Santa Rosa CA. Best price here 1495 up to 1895 for 5yr 75000mile Nissan Gold Prefered coverage. Online with Santa Rosa CA 799 for same exact factory warranty.

You raise a really good point, it didn't even occur to me in terms of resale value how nice it is to have the factory sport package. When I purchased my Z, I had every intention on keeping it forever; I still do. But who knows what will happen 7-10 years down the line, I may change my mind.

Anyone who tells you in this thread not to get the sport package is just trying to justify to themselves why they didn't get it on their own car. It's definitely worth the money if you can afford it.

I don't think anyone here has gone against recommending it. Some here are simply answering one part of this question. Is it necessary for street use. The truth is. Its not. I have sport pkg and I use it for "true sporting" not aesthetics. Do I recommend it. Yes. Wil I go as far as to say its an absolute necessity for daily driving? No. Is it the best option pkg on the Z? F**K yeah.
Some guys who want to start a ground up project, may not necessarily want the sport pkg. Some may opt for 6 piston front/4 piston rear Brembo/AP/Stoptech brakes, VOLKS and a quaife differential. So to someone else, they may not want the sport pkg due to it being NOT aggressive enough... For others, the sport package is an affordable way to get extraperformance.

So you might want to consider not summing up every opinion you don't agree with as hate or justification.

I just find it amusing that people think the sport package has anything to do with tracking. Because the reality is, you will find people who track and have the sports package, people who track that don't have the sports package, people who don't track and do have the sports package, and people who don't and don't. The OP didn't give any other criteria AFAIK, so then it just becomes a directionless thread about "this is what I did so this is what you should do". You're right that I was wrong to generalize, I'll admit I was in a bad mood that day.

I love the sports package and recommend it. I had never tracked a car in my life before the 370Z, and had no intention of tracking it when I purchased the car. Now I do track it. I doubt it was the SRM that made the difference yet I am happily at the track with all of it (sports package).

now the whole different issue is when they take days to find the color you want in just a base package, and a sports package in the color I want is completely out of question as they say it's impossible to find

so i just have to settle for the base without sports, which is fine, because i'm getting an amazing deal on it. Like i said before, only thing I Care about are the rims, so i can just upgrade that later which will come out to be cheaper in the end anyways.

although the brakes are nice, not a deal breaker for me. i'm all about aesthetics anyways.

Worth it 100%. It's only like $3,500 or something.

Look in the black book, the sport package is worth absolutely nothing extra. You can get some car guy to pay you extra for it, but most dealers aren't going to give you extra value.
