Not Planning to Track - Is Sports Package Worth It?

Okay, if I'm not going to be doing any big track days, do I really need the sports package? Does anyone know how much performance you actually pick up for spirited back road driving?

no, it really wouldn't be worth it for you.

srm ftw, enough said.

j/k, but yeah the srm is so awesome, the sound, the smooth feel, its just plain awesome!

Even if you are not going to track the car the price of the Sport Package is worth. You at least will appreciate the brake package.

FuszNissan 02-06-2010 07:43 PM

Not really, but it's worth the money.

Yeah, if your cruising like a granny, don't get a z.
j/p.
Yeah, just get your base + at.

You think your average driver just goosing it on the highway every now and then could tell a difference?

:iagree: I got a base because I knew the LSD/Brakes/Wheels/Tires would be immediately replaced, kind of a waste if you feel you dont need those things. I can blip a throttle or heel toe, SRM for me was unnecessary. Also didnt hurt that the dealer gave me a hell of a deal on it.

Track days aside, there are a few things to think about.

1) Aesthetics of the sport pack. The 19" rims are really nice and look great.

2) SRM. A nice feature, great for smooth downshifts, but you won't miss it if you never experience it.

3) Improved brakes. Probably make no difference for street driving.

4) LSD. If you drive in snow, you'll want this. It's helpful in more places than just the racetrack.

5) Perhaps resale value. People love buying cars that have 'all the options'. SRM is a big ticket item that gets lots of attention. People may look for this in a used 370 down the road.

I don't track it. I didn't get it. I don't regret it.

I believe it's definitely worth it to get the sport package.

One more difference is that the 19's come wrapped in Potenza's while the base is on Yoko's.

As for the LSD, at least it makes drifting easier...

I don't think that would matter to a guy who is just making some spirited freeway runs every now and then.
